United Nations, Oct 2 (CNA) - Turkish Cypriot leader Rauf Denktash underwent catheterisation today at the Methodist Hospital in New York, carried out by famous Turkish American cardiologist Mehmet Oz.

Denktash is in New York, along with President Glafcos Clerides, for a meeting with UN Secretary General Kofi Annan over the next couple of days, in the context of the UN-led peace talks.

The Turkish Cypriot leader, who was admitted to hospital this morning, is still there but is expected to be discharged later today.

Clerides, Denktash to meet Kofi Annan separately

New York, Oct 2 (CNA) -- The UN Secretariat announced today Thursday's meetings in the context of the ongoing Cyprus peace talks.

"Tomorrow 3rd of October, the Secretary General in furtherance of his mission of good offices will begin two days of consultations with the two Cypriot leaders," a statement, issued here today, read.

"The Secretary General will separately meet His Excellency Mr Glafcos Clerides, the Greek Cypriot leader, at 12 pm and His Excellency Mr Rauf Denktash, the Turkish Cypriot leader, at 1230 pm," the statement said, adding that after that "he will host them together for a working lunch."

"The lunch is to be followed by a further meeting in the afternoon," it said.
