    Nicosia, May 27 (CNA) -- The Meteorological Office at Larnaca International Airport has issued the following weather forecast for Cyprus:

    Tuesday and Wednesday: 28/05/2002 to 29/05/2002

    Fine and mainly clear. Winds light to moderate sea breezes and the state of sea will be slight but locally moderate in the afternoon.

    Maximum Temperature: 30 C inland and around 27 C over coastal areas. Minimum Temperature: Around 16 C inland and over coastal areas.

    Outlook for Thursday and Friday: 30/05/2002 to 31/05/2002

    Fine and mainly clear on Thursday but locally partly cloudy on Friday. Small increase in temperature is expected.

    Nicosia, May 27 (CNA) -- Cyprus and China signed here today a cooperation protocol aiming at further developing their bilateral ties in the areas of culture, education, sports, media and youth.     Larnaca, May 27 (CNA) -- The Chinese leadership has reaffirmed the position of principle it maintains on the Cyprus issue and which entails the support of the sovereignty, territorial integrity and independence of the Cyprus Republic, Cypriot House of Representatives President Demetris Christofias said here today.

    In statements on his return from China, where he held an eight-day official visit, heading a delegation, Christofias said he extended an invitation to the Chairman of the National People's Congress of China Li Peng, which was accepted. The date of the visit will be set later.
