Nicosia, Apr 6 (CNA) -- Greek and Turkish Cypriot Youth Organisations have adopted a resolution confirming the urgent need to find a just, viable and lasting solution to the Cyprus problem and expressing the conviction that a federal Cyprus will benefit both communities on the island.

CNA has learnt that the resolution was approved during a bicommunal Youth Forum that took place at the end of March in Budapest and the participants agreed to organise a massive bicommunal event in Cyprus, on the "World Peace Day" celebrated on 1st September, 2002.

Left parties denounce Israel's war against Palestinians

Nicosia, Apr 6 (CNA) -- The International Conference of Left Parties "Solidarity with the Palestinian People", organised by left-wing party AKEL in Nicosia with the participation of 43 parties and organisations from 22 countries, today adopted a resolution denouncing Israel's undeclared war against the Palestinians and calling for the immediate withdrawal of the Israeli army from the autonomous Palestinian territories.

Today at the end of the two-day International Conference, the participants condemned Israel's attempt to annihilate Palestinian leader Yasser Arafat and demanded the immediate lifting of his siege. The participant Parties also decided to organise a legal campaign aiming at the prosecution of Ariel Sharon before the International Court of Human Rights.

In their resolution, the participants to the Conference express their "concern for the negative consequences and the dangers which the Israeli aggressiveness will have on peace and stability in the broader region and on an international level and particularly on the Palestinian people."
