    Nicosia, Feb 21 (CNA) -- The Cyprus Central Tenders Board has awarded to the Israeli firm IAI ELTA Electronics Industries the contract to supply the island with a coastal radar system, according to an official announcement issued in Nicosia.

    Brussels, Feb 21 (CNA) -- European Union enlargement Commissioner Gunter Verheugen, who met in Brussels a Cyprus parliamentary delegation, expressed satisfaction with the country's accession course and its harmonization with the acquis communautaire and said the EU heads of state at their summit in December 2002 in Copenhagen are set to decide about those candidate countries that will join first the Union.

    Nicosia, Feb 21 (CNA) - Greek Foreign Minister George Papandreou and Cyprus Government Spokesman Michalis Papapetrou underlined today in Athens the need for the Turkish ide to show political the will for a solution to the Cyprus problem.

    Speaking to the press after meeting Papapetrou, Papandreou said there is a historic opportunity for the interested parties, to solve the Cyprus problem adding that the Turkish side must show the necessary will and that the Greek side has already done so.
