1825:CYPPRESS:02[02] Greece and Turkey: Disagreement on Cyprus goes onAthens, Nov 8 (CNA) -- Greek and Turkish Foreign Ministers George Papandreou and Ismael Cem agreed that a solution of the Cyprus problem should be mutually accepted by both sides on the island but once again disagreed on the basis of the settlement as Papandreou said it should be based on UN resolutions, providing for a bizonal, bicommunal federation and Cem reiterated the Turkish demand for a confederation.Speaking during a joint press conference that followed the talks they held here today Papandreou said his country supports the UN Secretary General's good offices mission for Cyprus and a solution in accordance with UN resolutions while Cem noted that "a settlement requires a mutually accepted solution by the 'peoples' of Cyprus and their 'motherlands' (Greece and Turkey)" adding that "a Cyprus confederation will lead to that." 1950:CYPPRESS:04[04] Attorney General - Euro-Conference - EthicsNicosia, Nov 8 (CNA) -- The Cyprus Republic will host through its Law Office, November 11-13, the 6th European Conference of National Ethics Committees on "Genetics and Society, Opportunities and Threats", organised by the Council of Europe.Speaking at a press conference, Attorney General of the Republic Alecos Markides said that Cyprus will soon ratify the "European Convention on Human Rights and Biomedicine" and the additional to the Convention Protocol, prohibiting cloning of human beings and added that a draft bill of the law that envisages the establishment and structure of a National Bioethics Committee in Cyprus has been submitted to the House of Representatives.
