[01] President Clerides - UN - Nobel peace prize

Nicosia, Oct 16 (CNA) -- President Glafcos Clerides has congratulated warmly UN Secretary General Kofi Annan and the UN on being awarded this year's Nobel Peace Prize, noting this is a "most well deserved award."

In a letter to Annan, the President notes that this highest accolade is a recognition of the central role the UN plays and of its striving to achieve world peace and security, a noble goal to which Cyprus is committed.
