    [03] Cyprus - Egyptian Minister - Arrival

    Larnaca, Sep 24 (CNA) -- Egypt's Minister of Petroleum Sameh Fahmy arrived here today at the invitation of Cyprus Minister of Commerce, Industry and Tourism Nicos Rolandhis, to hold a series of meetings on issues relating to the exploitation of natural gas and oil reserves in the Eastern Mediterranean.

    Speaking on his arrival here for a two-day official visit, Fahmy said that Egypt "looks forward to cooperating" with Cyprus and expressed hope that his meeting with Rolandis tomorrow will be "a very positive one", while on his part Rolandis said the Egyptian delegation, headed by Fahmy was a "very important" one.     [04] PACE President - Cyprus - ECHR rulings - Turkey

    by Gregory Savva Strasbourg, Sep 24 (CNA) -- European Court of Human Rights (ECHR) decisions should be implemented forthwith and unconditionally, President of European Council's Parliamentary Assembly (PACE) Lord Russell Johnston said here today.

    Speaking at a press conference, held on the sidelines of the Assembly's autumn session, in Strasbourg (September 24-28), Lord Russell Johnston, invited by CNA to comment on Turkey's refusal to comply with two ECHR rulings pertaining Cyprus, namely the Court's decisions on the Loizidou case and on the 4th inter- state application of Cyprus against Turkey, noted he was well aware of the fact that many countries including Turkey had found some of the decisions "very difficult" and in some cases "publicly unpopular."     [05] Maritime Cyprus 2001 - Opening

    Limassol, Sep 24 (CNA) -- The Cyprus government "remains determined and committed to the continuous improvement of the maritime infrastructure and the services rendered to the shipping community," Communications and Works Minister Averof Neophytou said here today.

    Speaking at the "Maritime Cyprus 2001" Conference, which opened here today and will wrap up next Wednesday, Neophytou said Cyprus widened the range and the quality of services it offers to the shipping industry and noted that the presence of so many prominent delegates in Cyprus "gives us the reassurance and encouragement to continue."     [06] Cyprus - Parliamentary delegation - France

    Nicosia, Sep 24 (CNA)-- A five-member Cyprus parliamentary delegation, in Paris for a two-day official visit, at the invitation of the France - Cyprus Friendship group at the French Senate, met today with high ranking French officials.

    According to an official press release, the Cypriot parliamantarians briefed the French officials on developments in the Cyprus problem and the protracted impasse due to the Turkish side's intransigence, expressing also their appreciation for France's constant support over efforts to reach a settlement within the framework of UN relevant resolutions and principles.     [07] Cyprus Airways - Insurance cover

    Œicosia, Sep 24 (CNA) -- Cyprus Airways will continue to carry out its flights to all destinations as scheduled, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Cyprus Airways, the island's national carrier, Haris Loizides said here today, adding that if problems should appear with insurance companies, the government will step in.

    Speaking after a meeting held this afternoon between himself, Attorney - General Alecos Markides, Finance Minister Takis Klerides and other government officials, to discuss the issues regarding the insurance cover for war risk following the terrorist attacks in the US, Loizides said a formula has been reached in order to deal with problems relating to insurance cover.
