US - UN process - Cyprus
Washington, Aug 17 (CNA) --- The US continues to back UN efforts to achieve
a comprehensive settlement on Cyprus, US State Department spokesman Philip
Ricker has said, noting that later this month the UN Secretary General Kofi
Annan will meet Turkish Cypriot leader Rauf Denktash, who abandoned the UN-
led negotiations last year.
Asked if there are any new developments in the UN Cyprus peace talks, the
spokesman replied "we continue to support UN efforts to achieve a
comprehensive settlement on Cyprus."
