[01] Cyprus Government Spokesman - Irish Referendum
Nicosia, Jun 9 (CNA) -- The Cyprus Government has expressed its regret over
the rejection of the Europen Union's Nice Treaty by the majority of Irish
voters, but appeared optimistic this would not affect the enlargement
process.
Invited by CNA to comment on the outcome of the Irish referendum Government
Spokesman Michalis Papapetrou described it as "negative and regretful", but
expressed the view "it would not halt accession negotiations nor would it
stop the enlargement process."

[02] President of Kenya - Farewell ceremony
Nicosia, Jun 9 (CNA) -- President of the Republic of Kenya Daniel Toroitich
Arap Moi today wrapped up his four-day official visit to Cyprus aimed at
further enhancing bilateral relations with a brief meeting with President
of the Republic Glafcos Clerides, followed by an official farewell ceremony,
at the Presidential Palace.
During the Kenyan President's stay, Moi and President Clerides signed a
protocol on bilateral cooperation in various fields, including health,
education, commerce, tourism and forests and decided on how to proceed with
implementing this agreement. They also reaffirmed the very good bilateral
relations between the two countries.

[03] President Clerides - Patriarch of Georgia
Nicosia, Jun 09 (CNA) -- President of the Republic Glafcos Clerides today
received and discussed issues of common interest with Patriarch Elias of
Georgia, who is visiting the island at the invitation of the Primate of the
Orthodox Church of Cyprus Archbishop Chrysostomos.
Patriarch Elias, who arrived on the island yesterday, invited President
Clerides and Archbishop Chrysostomos, who accompanied him to the
Presidential Palace, to visit Georgia and discuss the further strengthening
of ties between the two countries.
