[01] Greek Foreign Minister - Speech

Nicosia, Mar 12 (CNA) -- Greek Foreign Minister George Papandreou, on a three- day visit here, has sent a message of reassurance to Turkish Cypriots that they have nothing to fear from joining the European Union and asked Cypriot trade unionists to continue working together towards the goal of a united Cyprus, a member of the European Union.

Addressing a gathering last night in Nicosia organised by trade unions, the Greek minister said the dynamic of Cyprus' EU accession has led the Union to cooperate closely with the UN in their effort to reach a settlement in Cyprus and reunite the country in a bizonal, bicommunal federation.
