  • [02] Cyprus Airways - Tender - Olympic Airways Nicosia, Feb 1 (CNA) -- Cyprus Airways spokesman Tasos Angelis has described the company's bid for a majority stake in the privatization of Olympic Airways "a very serious proposal". "We consider our proposal a very serious one. Cyprus Airways knows the Greek market and has the necessary know-how to make the most out of this bid" he told CÍÁ, only a day after the company submitted its non binding proposal to Credit Swisse First Boston, which acts as a consultant to the Greek state.   • [03] Cypriot doctors - India - Assistance Nicosia, Feb 1 (CNA) -- A six member medical team from Cyprus is flying to India on Monday to help local doctors to deal with the problems they have to face in the aftermath of the terrible earthquake that hit the country last week. "We intend to work in hospitals with teams of local doctors in areas which have suffered most from the earthquake and as far as we gather there are many injured people," Eleni Theocharous, president of the organization "Doctors of the World" Cyprus branch told CNA today.   • [04] Algerian Foreign Minister - Official Visit Nicosia, Feb 1 (CNA) -- Algerian Foreign Minister Abdelaziz Belkhadem arrives in Cyprus tomorrow for a three day official visit during which he will have formal talks with his Cypriot counterpart Ioannis Kasoulides. On Saturday morning he is to meet House President Spyros Kyprianou and then have talks at the Foreign Ministry, after which he and Kasoulides will give a press conference. CNA MM/ÌÊ/2001

  • [05] Illegal immigrants - British Bases Nicosia, Feb 1 (CNA) -- Two illegal immigrants out of a group of 17, who were located on the island last night, were remanded in custody for five days by Famagusta District Court for illegal entry into the Republic of Cyprus. The remaining 15, found by British Bases police in an empty reservoir within Bases territory, have been given shelter on one of the bases, on the eastern part of the island, according to Bases spokesman Robert Need.
