The Statistical Service announced that for the period January-August 2000, arrivals of travellers reached 2.398.730, compared to 2.125.241 during the same period in 1999, recording an increase of 12,9%. A Statistical Service press release notes that total exports reached 403,8 million pounds in January-August 2000, compared to 353,7 million during the same period last year, while the trade deficit accounted for 1.111,4 million, compared to 888 million pounds in January-August last year.
