1620:CYPPRESS:03[03] Illegal immigrants - Interior Minister - Lebanese Charge d' AffairesNicosia, Sep 15 (CNA) - Interior Minister, Christodoulos Christodoulou, said today that a boat carrying 266 illegal immigrants, mainly Iranians and Kurds, who were saved from drowning on September 13 when their boat sank off the shores of western Cyprus, had sailed from Lebanon for either Crete or Italy.Christodoulou said that the authorities knew on September 12 that the specific boat had set sail from Lebanon and that the Italian and Greek authorities had been notified.
