US Presidential Emissary Alfred Moses, who arrived here yesterday, had an hour- long working breakfast this morning with President Glafcos Clerides, during which, according to sources, he listened to the positions of the Greek Cypriot side but did nor express any opinion.

    [02] DISI President - Euro MP Theresa Villiers

    Nicosia, Jun 27 (CNA) -- British Euro MP Theresa Villiers expressed hope here today that the upcoming proximity talks between the Greek Cypriot and Turkish Cypriot sides for a Cyprus settlement will produce "real positive advances".

    Speaking after a meeting with ruling rightwing Democratic Rally (DISI) party President Nicos Anastasiades, Villiers expressed hope that Ankara and Turkish Cypriot leader Raouf Denktash will respond to "the many advances and concessions" by Cyprus President Glafcos Clerides.

    [03] Cyprus - OECD - Harmful tax practices

    Nicosia, Jun 27 (CNA) -- Cyprus has made a commitment to the Organisation for Economic Development and Cooperation (OECD) to abolish harmful tax practices by the end of the year 2005.

    Finance Ministry officials in Nicosia told CNA that the Paris-based organisation has accepted the commitment and as a result, the eastern Mediterranean island is not included in a list of tax havens released in Paris yesterday.

    [04] US officials - Turkish Cypriot leader - Meeting

    Nicosia, Jun 27 (CNA) -- Turkish Cypriot leader Rauf Denktash has again cast doubt as to his participation in the UN-led peace talks, due to resume on 5 July in Geneva.

    Speaking after a meeting with senior US officials in the Turkish-occupied part of Nicosia, Denktash said he does not know if there will be a third round of talks or not.

    [05] AKEL - South African Communist Party

    Nicosia, Jun 27 (CNA) - Secretary-General of the South African Communist Party Blade Nzimande reassured that his party and the country's government, in which it participates, will continue to play a role in international fora so that pressure is put on Turkey to end its occupation of part of Cyprus.

    Speaking after a meeting here with Secretary-General of left-wing AKEL party Dimitris Christofias, that invited him to the island, Nzimande called for the restoration of Cyprus' single sovereignty.
