    [01] Tourists - Arrival

    Nicosia, Apr 23 (CNA) -- There has been a ten per cent rise in the number of tourists who visited Cyprus in the first three months of the year, compared to last year's figures.

    Official figures, released by the Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Tourism, said 286.283 tourists came to the island from January to March this year, compared with 258.275 in 1999.

    [02] Foreign Minister - Cyprus problem

    Nicosia, Apr 23 (CNA) -- Foreign Minister Ioannis Kasoulides has said the government will never accept injustice, imposed by the use of force, and will continue its efforts to reunite Cyprus, divided since Turkish troops invaded in 1974.

    The minister stressed the only way to a solution is to ensure that international law, respect for human rights and the European Union rules and regulations form the basis of a settlement.

    [03] British Tourist - Murder - Court

    Limassol, Apr 23 (CNA) -- Two 18-year old men were remanded in custody today for eight days by Limassol District Court in connection with police inquiries into the murder of a British tourist.

    Both have admitted the crime but said it was not premeditated. CNA MM/??/2000
