[01] Ministerial Committee -
Nicosia, Dec 21 (CNA) -- A ministerial committee decided today to extend
the moratorium for foreign workers in Cyprus until the end of March and
rejected a demand by night club owners for an increase in the number of
foreign workers they employ.
Speaking after the meeting with Justice and Law and Order Minister
Nicos Koshis and Labour and Social Insurance Minister Andreas Mousioutas,
Interior Minister Christodoulos Christodoulou said the committee also
decided to conduct a census of the Greeks from Pontos living on the island
as from January 1.

[02] President Clerides - Japanese Emperor - Anniversary
Nicosia, Dec 21 (CNA) -- President Glafcos Clerides expressed satisfaction
for the interest the government of Japan is taking with regard to UN and
international community efforts to bring about a peaceful solution to the
Cyprus problem.
Speaking at a reception on the occasion of the anniversary of the
enthronement and birthday of Emperor Akihito hosted by the Ambassador of
Japan, President Clerides said "despite the geographic distance between
Cyprus and Japan, our countries and their peoples have all along maintained
ties of friendship and co-operation".
