London, Nov 26 (CNA) -- British Prime Minister Tony Blair and French
President Jacques Chirac have expressed the hope UN-sponsored talks on
Cyprus to start in New York on December 3 will be successful.
Replying to questions after the Anglo-French Summit held in London
yesterday, Blair said the Cyprus issue was discussed and wished the two
sides on the island every success.

Nicosia, Nov 26 (CNA) -- Greek Foreign Minister George Papandreou today
said discussions among European Union members on relations with Ankara and
the Cyprus question are continuing and Athens will decide on Turkey's
candidacy when it sees the final documents of the Helsinki summit.
Papandreou called on President Glafcos Clerides with whom he discussed
the various scenarios for the Cyprus proximity talks starting in New York
on December 3 and the EU summit taking place in Finland a week later.
