    [01] Foreign Minister - Athens

    Larnaca, Oct 13 (CNA) -- Cyprus Foreign Minister Ioannis Kasoulides left today for Athens where he will meet his Greek counterpart George Papandreou later today in view of important meetings taking place until December aimed at resuming the Cyprus peace talks.

    Replying to press questions at Larnaca airport, Kasoulides said the improvement of the climate between Greece and Turkey should benefit efforts to settle the Cyprus problem and called on the international community to turn towards Ankara if progress for a solution is to be achieved.

    [02] Christian sect - Arrival in Rhodes

    Nicosia, Oct 13 (CNA) -- Cypriot-flagged cruise ship "Nissos Kypros" carrying some 25 mainly Irish members of an extreme Christian sect today anchored in the Greek island of Rhodes from where it will go to Pireus port, according to the shipowner company "Salamis Tours".

    The 25 were denied entry to Cyprus yesterday after being expelled from Israel because of fears that they plan to commit mass suicide on the occasion of the 2000 years since the birth of Christ.

    [03] Balkan Festival opens

    Nicosia, Oct 13 (CNA) -- A Balkan cinema festival opened in the southern coastal town of Limassol last night with the film "The Power Keg" of Yugoslavian director Goran Pascalevitc.

    Nine films from Yugoslavia, Greece, Bulgaria, Albania, FYROM, Romania a Greco-Turkish and a French-Bosnian co-production will be screened during the two week festival taking place in Limassol and Nicosia.
