[01] Cypriot FM - British envoy - Meetings

New York, Sep 21 (CNA) -- Cyprus Foreign Minister, Ioannis Kasoulides,
will have a new meeting Tuesday with British envoy for Cyprus, Sir David
Hannay, in view of the UN Secretary-General's intention to invite by the
end of September the leaders of the two communities in Cyprus for
negotiations in New York.
The British diplomat will also have a meeting Tuesday afternoon with
Greece's Foreign Minister George Papandreou.

Nicosia, Sep 21 (CNA) -- The International Democrat Union (IDU) has
stressed the importance of restating willingness for a Cyprus settlement on
the anniversary of the fall of the Berlin Wall and expressed support to the
Group of Eight (G8) backing for a negotiating process towards this end.
Meanwhile, speaking after his return from the IDU meeting in Berlin
Nicos Anastasiades, leader of Cyprus' ruling right-wing Democratic Rally
party (DISI), pointed to the conciliatory stance of Bulent Akarcali,
representative of the Turkish Motherland party, who as he said contributed
to the positive climate during the discussion of the Cyprus problem.
