    [01] Amnesty International - Signatures

    Nicosia, Oct 17 (CNA) -- Amnesty International-Cyprus section is collecting today signatures of Cypriot citizens pledging to assist efforts towards the implementation of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights.

    The collection of signatures is in the framework of an international campaign to mark the 50th anniversary since the signing of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights.

    The petition, citizens throughout the world are asked to sign, stresses:

    "I will do everything in my power to ensure that the rights in the Universal Declaration of Human Rights become a reality throughout the world."

    President Glafcos Clerides, political leaders, Attorney General, Alecos Markides and other government officials have already signed the petition.

    [02] Cristodoulides - Rome

    Nicosia, Oct 17 (CNA) -- MP Doros Christodoulides, departs today for Rome, to participate at a meeting of the Parliamentarian and Public Relations Committee of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe.

    The meeting will be held between the 18-20 October and will deal, among other issues, with the 50th anniversary of the establishment of the Council of Europe.

    Christodoulides will go to Palermo and Agrijento to participate in a meeting of the Immigration, Refugees and Demography Committee of the PACE, which will be held between 22-24 of October.
