NEWS REVIEW, REPUBLIKA SRPSKA

SOKOLAC - Representatives of the Sokolac Municipal Assembly strongly condemn murder of Srdjan Knezevic, deputy chief of the Central police station Sarajevo and legendary leader of the "Beli vukovi" unit. The representatives demand from the official institutions of the Republika Srpska (RS) to find the murders and bring them to justice - is said in the Sokolac Municipal Assembly announcement.

BELGRADE - The Informative service of the general staff of the FRY Army stated last night that in the region of the Gorozup border barracks a large group of Albanian terrorists, trained in the training centre in the place of Kuksi in Albania, tried to cross illegally into the FRY territory from the Republic of Albania, but FRY border guards prevented them.

PODGORICA - The President of Montenegro, Milo Djukanovic, congratulated to players and leadership of the Yugoslav basketball national team on their victory and a title of a world champion at the 13th world championship in Athens. "With this result you confirmed, in the best way possible, the quality of Yugoslav basketball" - said Djukanovic.

PRISTINA - In the main street in Pristina there is a celebration over victory achieved by the FRY national basketball team at the 13th world championship in Athens.

PALE - Usual celebration because of a great victory made by the FRY basketball team last night in Athens and their fourth title of a world champion, did not take place in Pale because of the Day of mourning on death of Srdjan Knezevic.

DOBOJ - Sport fans in Doboj were celebrating until early morning hours victory of the FRY national basketball team achieved last night in Athens.

DOBOJ - 30th international fieldball tv-tournament "Doboj '98" will be held in Doboj in August 19-22. A patron of the tournament will be the RS Government, and the RS Razvojna banka will be a general sponsor.

NEWS REVIEW, REPUBLIKA SRPSKA

BANJALUKA - The President of the Serbian Democratic Party (SDS) Presidency, Dragan Kalinic, accused leaders of some political parties in Republika Srpska (RS), of, as he put it, "striving to politicise murder of Srdjan Knezevic , deputy chief of the Central police station Sarajevo". At a press- conference in Banjaluka Kalinic said that "the Sloga coalition tries to fit this murder into conflict between the so called democratic and regressive forces in RS".

BIJELJINA - The President of the SDS Municipal Board in Bijeljina, Cvijetin Nikic, condemned murder of Srdjan Knezevic, deputy chief of the Central police station Sarajevo and appealed to the RS Internal Affairs Ministry (MUP) to dissolve this terroristic act as soon as possible. At a press- conference in Bijeljina Nikic said that some parties wanted to politicise this case, what can jeopardise stabilisation in RS."

BIJELJINA - Vice-president of the Serbian People's Union (SNS) Municipal Board, Zivan Filipovic, said that "a crime committed against Srdjan Knezevic was organised, planed and ordered by those structures which, while he was defending RS, were enriching themselves, and now they hold their political and material positions". "The SNS demand from the relevant institutions especially from the RS MUP to solve this case urgently and to provide safety for all Serbian people in RS" - said Filipovic at a press- conference.

BANJALUKA - The RS Prime Minister, Milorad Dodik, and the U.S. Ambassador to B&H, Richard Kauslarich, will attend, tomorrow, the beginning of the central heating system reconstruction in the city of Banjaluka. The occasion will be attended by a director of the USAID Craig Back and the RS Minister of Urban Planning and Ecology, Jovo Basic.

VISEGRAD - The Primary school "Vuk Karadzic" and the High school "Ivo Andric" in Visegrad forwarded a request for the RS Ministry of Education, Ministry of Refugees and Displaced Persons and the Visegrad Municipal Assembly to include themselves more efficiently to solve the problem of dismissal of collective shelters from schools.

PRISTINA - Three members of the Kosovo Liberation Army have been killed this morning at about 5 o'clock in a clash with police in the village of Dura near Gabrice, near the Urosevac - Strpce road. The terrorists attacked police patrol which responded on the fire and killed three armed terrorists - SRNA has learned from the Municipal authorities in Urosevac.

PRISTINA - Albanian terrorists from Kosovo - self proclaimed Liberation Army of Kosovo (OVK) what should mean - defence, organised territorial and state foundation - slowly are becoming defeated. Along with that, at the edge of defeat, an idea appeared that terrorism might strengthen political positions of the so called moderate Albanian leaders in Kosmet or at least that terrorism itself with its structure can develop or turn into a legal and key negotiating factor. NOVI SAD - Faced with bad touristic season Croats found out new "branch of Croatian tourism", organising "patriotic" tourist excursions through Serbian villages and cities, now devastated after the war. "Although, everything is too pathetic and in a way sad, young German tourists are interested in this kind of tourism".

BANJALUKA - The RS Prime Minister, Milorad Dodik, congratulated to players and leadership of the FRY basketball national team on its victory at the 13th world championship in Athens and 4th winning of the world champion title."With this great triumph you confirmed that Serbian people in this hard times can and have something to hope for" - said the RS Prime Minister, Milorad Dodik.

BANJALUKA - The President of Republika Srpska (RS), Biljana Plavsic, congratulated to the Yugoslav Basketball federation for success of the Yugoslav national basketball team at the 13th world championship in Athens and fourth title of world champions. "Only greatest, best and the bravest can reach the Olympus", said Biljana Plavsic.

SARAJEVO - The President in the B&H Presidency from RS, Momcilo Krajisnik, congratulated to the "Yugoslav champion national basketball team", and their victory on the 13th world basketball championship in Athens. "Your skill, spirit and mastery showed to the whole world who you are, worthy of admiration by the world's sport public" - said Krajisnik. He also added "we are proud of your great success because that is our success too".

BANJALUKA - Cabinet of the RS President in Banjaluka, denied yesterday's reports issued by the Beta Agency according to which the RS President Biljana Plavsic arrived at the funeral of Srdjan Knezevic, deputy chief of the Central police station Sarajevo, in Pale, on the SFOR helicopter. "The RS President and members of the Government's delegation arrived in Pale on the RS Army helicopter and that is the only means of transportation that they use" - is said from the Cabinet of the RS President.

BANJALUKA - The RS has got a second installment of assets for the support to the Budget amounting to $U.S.5,578,132 millions, which enabled payment of pensions for June, including the RS pensioners in FRY, while assets for salaries for July were given to faculties, ministries and Government's institutions.

BIJELJINA - The RS Democratic Party (DS) expressed bitterness and astonishment because of treacherous murder of a legendary commander, Srdjan Knezevic, who continued with his struggle for RS and Serbian people after the war. In the communique issued by the DS is said that this murder is one of many aimed toward officials in the RS MUP and against democratic changes and fight against crime.

DOBOJ - The OHR for B&H denied every possibility that blame might be on its side because some countries did not acknowledge new civilian passports. OHR put the blame on the Ministry of Civil Affairs and Communications and Foreign Affairs Ministry in the B&H Council of Ministers. According to OHR "Ministry of Civil Affairs did not act in accordance with the set time limits for issuing of passports".

PRISTINA - Four policemen have been killed in an attack of Albanian terrorists near Prilep on the Decani - Djakovica road; Zdravomir Bukilic,28, from Decani, employee at the MUP Djakovica and Zoran Djokic,28, Srdjan Draskovic,31, and Bojan Kocic,23, employees at the MUP leskovac. Media centre in Pristina issued yesterday, that near the village of Dujak in the Decani Municipality, a policeman Stojan Stojmenovic from Vranje was badly injured. He had been transferred to hospital in Belgrade and his life is out of danger.

PRISTINA - On several occasions, during last night, Albanian terrorists were attacking Serbian houses in the villages of Stupelj and Drenovcic in the Klina Municipality - SRNA has learned from local authorities.

PRISTINA - District Attorney's office in Pec submitted a request to the District court for an inquiry against five Albanians from Kosmet accused of crime of terrorism. The requests will be submitted against Muhamet,45, and Sulj,55, Becaj from the village of Racaj, Alija Hamza,42, from the village of Pacaj and Kolj,19, and Djerdj, 31, Pepaj from the village of Ramoc.

PRISTINA - Municipal authorities in Srbica forwarded an appeal to all inhabitants who moved out because of actions by the Albanian terrorists to return because they will be safe now. Serbian security forces expelled all terrorists from these villages in the Srbica Municipality.

PRISTINA - Albanians from the village of Skivjan near Djakovica have given arms at 14:00p.m. which they had got from the "Kosovo Liberation Army" (OVK) - SRNA has learned from representatives of the local authorities in Djakovica. Two hours later people from the village of Dujak have done the same.

NEWS REVIEW, REPUBLIKA SRPSKA

BANJALUKA - The Republika Srpska (RS) Minister of Internal Affairs, Milovan Stankovic, stated that starting August 15th, regular security (guards) for the President in the B&H Presidency from RS, Momcilo Krajisnik, will be suspended. In the communique issued from the Cabinet of a Minister is said that this decision was made because of "an arrogant attitude of Mr. Krajisnik toward the RS Internal Affairs (MUP) institutions at the meeting on August 5th in the MUP premises in Bijeljina".

SARAJEVO - Representatives of the Central police station (CJB) Sarajevo and presidents of the City Assembly, Assemblies and Executive Boards of the Municipalities from the region of Sarajevo and Romanija assessed murder of Srdjan Knezevic, deputy chief of the CJB as a terroristic crime. In the communique issued by the CJB Sarajevo is said that "this murder makes the whole security situation in the region very complicated and threats to take undesirable directions unless efficient measures are taken".

BANJALUKA - The President in the B&H Presidency from RS Momcilo Krajisnik, said that the greatest value of the Dayton Peace Accord was peace and reached compromise. "I know exactly what was agreed in Dayton and I will urge on respecting those regulations in future," said Krajisnik for the Serbian Radio television (SRT). He added that he would fight for RS to maintain its jurisdictions got by the Dayton Peace Accord.
