NEWS REVIEW, REPUBLIKA SRPSKA

BANJA LUKA - The president of Republika Srpska /RS/ Biljana Plavsic, during talks with deputy High Representative Hans Schumacher, again pointed out the danger of violation of Dayton Agreement because arresting of people in the territory of Federation B&H /FB&H/. After two hours talks with Schumacher in Banja Luka, president Plavsic stressed that it was very difficult to build confidence in order to secure freedom of movement, assessing that in last months was reached progress in that direction. "Last months we were rather confident, but now I cannot say that", added Mrs. Plavsic noting that on the occasion of arresting Serbs in FB&H she demanded the explanation from High Representative Carlos Westendorp.

SARAJEVO - New rules and amendments, adopted on March 27 by Provisional Electoral Commission /PEC/, are obliging for all political parties, Coalition and independent candidates to make payment for registration, and money will be returned in case if party of candidate win at least one mandate on elections. In the announcement for press OSCE is stressing that from the request for signing in will be excluded all parties, coalitions or independent candidates which were registered for any former elections conducted under auspices of this organisation and which had won at least one mandate, while all other parties or candidates must communicate their requests for registration.

DOBOJ - The rail-way line Samac -Brcko - Bijeljina is of the great interest and significance for RS and therefore the works on its construction will be intensified, stressed in Doboj the president of RS Government Milorad Dodik during talks with leadership of Railroad Corporation of RS. The premier of RS talked in Doboj also with the president of Government of Federation B&H /FB&H/ Edhem Bicakcic about establishing Joint Railway Corporation of B&H, which would consist of two equal railroad companies.

CLEVELAND - Although in the short period have taken over the control over police, decreased corruption connected with political parties and accepted the key provisions of Peace Accords, there still remains to be seen whether premier of RS Milorad Dodik is progressive Serbian leader, as he presents himself, assesses the U.S. news "Boston globe". Assessing that "the survival of Dodik's government and its popularity in Serbian people depend on his capacity to perform economic renewal of RS", the American news conveys the statement of director of Balkan Institute from Washington that his determination to implement Dayton Agreement should be viewed with "sound cynicism".

THESALONIKI - The more members delegation of RS, which arrived to Greek city Edesi, should have signed the agreement about establishing mutual cooperation between State enterprise "Bosnaplod" from Brcko and Greek firm Selinder SA. The mediator in signing agreement is the representative of RS in Thesaloniki Veljko Radunovic, and Selinder SA is one of the greatest European raisers and producers of snails.

BANJA LUKA - The ministry of Religions in the Government of RS most sharply condemned devastation of the chapel of St. Ann and Yoakim in Potkozarje near Banja Luka. In the public announcement the perpetrators of this vandalism are condemned, and expressed the hope that "that uncivilised act will not lead to halt of efforts for establishing confidence between people of good will and that it will not reflect on rights and freedoms guaranteed by Constitution of RS and Dayton Agreement".

TREBINJE - All members of Serbian Democratic Party /SDS/ have to engage themselves maximally in order to perform until September's elections what party is obliged to do for people and fallen victims of RS - stated the presiding of SDS presidency Aleksa Buha.

SRBINJE - The department of the ministry for refugees and displaced persons of RS, in cooperation with Catering-tourist enterprise Vucevo from Srbinje, without delay must offer the solution for collective accommodation centre in Hotel "Zelengora", in which is accommodated more that 1,000 persons, so that this space would again have hotel's contents.

PRISTINA - The leadership of the student's protest "Pristina '98" is organising tonight in the auditorium of Student's Centre the protest rally. The gathering starts at 22,00 h, and on this opportunity will be read already known student's demands. The leadership of student's protests gave up from protest gatherings and walking through the streets of Pristina.

BANJA LUKA - The president of Government of Republika Srpska /RS/ Milorad Dodik talked in Banja Luka with the deputy High Representative Hans Schumacher and presiding of the OSCE Mission to B&H Robert Berry. after one hour talks behind the closed doors Schumacher rejected to give any statement, explaining that "he has no time" , and from the Cabinet of premier Dodik was communicated the public announcement, in which is stated that during the meeting were exchanged opinions about implementation of Dayton agreement and functioning the municipal authorities in RS, and development and functioning of organs of state after last elections.

SARAJEVO - Dragan /Samojka/ Pejic /1959/, who was arrested by federal police on March 23, charged allegedly for committing war crime against civilian population in Hadzici, was released from prison in Sarajevo. Pejic's official defender Borisa Stajic confirmed tonight for SRNA that the key witness of indictment B.J. stated on today's hearing that he sees for the first time MR. Pejic, and that it is not a man the indictment relates with. According to him, the key witness B.J., who charged Pejic for raping, explained at the facing that its the substitution of personalities and that this is not a man she was accused.

PRIJEDOR - The municipal Board of Serbian Democratic Party /SDS? of Prijedor decided that the extraordinary party Assembly of Municipal Organisation will be held on Saturday April 4. At the Assembly will be elected 45 out of 60 members of Municipal Board, and 15 will be elected by presiding of the Presidency of SDS Aleksa Buha.
