NEWS REVIEW, REPUBLIKA SRPSKA

VIENNA - Irregular session of the Permanent OSCE Council has begun in Vienna where Ambassadors of 54 countries will discuss the current situation in Kosovo and possible engagement in the region. The OSCE chairman, Polish Foreign Affairs Minister Bronislav Geremek called FR Yugoslavia to reduce police forces in Kosovo. At the session Geremek will submit his proposal for reducing tensions in this Serbian province. Geremek in his proposal respects territorial integrity of FRY but is also taking into account Albanian's requests for wider autonomy.

UZICE - Key fault of the Serbian policy in Kosovo is lack of dialogue between Serbian and Albanian side - Momcilo Trajkovic, President of the Serbian Renewal Movement from Kosovo, said yesterday. "Without political dialogue even state has no legitimacy and that is why the international community denies justified police actions in fight against terrorism in Kosovo" - Trajkovic said for Radio-Uzice. He announced a possible meeting with Serbian President Milan Milutinovic and Bishop of Raska and Prizren Artemije.

UZICE - The President of Serbian Democratic Party Vojislav Kostunica said yesterday that "the Contact Group , especially the U.S., have done nothing to prevent exodus of tens of thousands of Serbs from Eastern Slavonia, but they are imposing sanctions to Yugoslavia, i.e. to the people who live there". Contact Group is like "a lost river - appeared in the moment to solve the B&H question, and in the next moment it is here again for Kosovo and Metohija".

TIRANA - Albanian Defence Secretary Perikli Teta announced that Albania would ask for deployment of NATO troops on the border with FRY, in order to have a control over situation in Kosovo. "NATO troops would have a special mission to supervise the border in order to prevent arms smuggling"- Teta said, adding that Albania has done everything to stop smuggling on the border with Kosovo.

STOCKHOLM - People's Republic of China stopped adoption of a statement of Security Council where concern over current events in Kosovo has been expressed. As a permanent member of the Council, China thinks Kosovo represents an internal matter of Serbia and FRY - a correspondent of the Swedish state Radio reported from New York.
