NEWS REVIEW, REPUBLIKA SRPSKA

BANJA LUKA - The president of Republika Srpska (RS) Biljana Plavsic stressed in Banja Luka that changes in RS Army /VRS/ were carried out in order to bring Republika Srpska in better position and expressed hope that we shall "all withstand and come into the situation to decide alone about our destiny". During handing over duties between former and new chief of General Staff of VRS general major Pero Colic and colonel general Momir Talic, the president of RS reminded that handing over duties happened in the very difficult circumstances imposed by Dayton agreement, but also in internal conflicts in the state summit.

BANJA LUKA - The president of RS Biljana Plavsic received in Banja Luka in protocol visit Ambassador of Russian Federation (RF) to B&H Philip Philipovic Sidorski, who officially have taken over the duty in Sarajevo yesterday. After short talks, Sidorski stressed that with president Plavsic he lead useful and substantial talks about situation in RS and B&H, directions of further cooperation between RS and Russian Federation and the role of RF in implementation of Dayton Agreement.

GACKO - The premier of RS Government Milorad Dodik stated in talks with economists of Gacko, Nevesinje and Serbian Mostar that "the Government is committed to revive economy in all enterprises which arrangements are directed towards export". The RS premier and members of his cabinet talked in Gacko with economists of Hercegovina region about economic situation in this part of RS and the way of its start-up. "We wish to find out your needs and problems, in order that ministers charged for particular fields of activities in the next week be able to view the economic situation in this part of Hercegovina", stressed the premier Dodik assessing that "there is no serious state if it is not able to finance itself from its own budget".

BILECA - The RS Government will continue the realisation of started project "Gornji horizonti" /upper horizons/ and intensifying building of the high- way Trebinje - Herceg Novi, stated in Bileca RS premier Milorad Dodik. "In the region of municipality Bileca were registered problems in water supplying and rehabilitation of economic enterprises", stressed Dodik and announced that it will be one of priority tasks in next projects of RS Government, between which are projects of export activities of economic enterprises from the region of this municipality.

BILECA - The RS premier Milorad Dodik said in the military barracks in Bileca before the army officers of the Seventh Corps of RS Army must be de- politicised and trained to defend Republika Srpska". Starting the visit to municipality Bileca with talks with officers of this Corps, premier Dodik said that Government and Defence Ministry will d everything to enable soldiers for acting. He stated that any revision of Dayton Agreement would be harmful for RS, and added that "army and people who defend themselves could defend their state".

BANJA LUKA - The new chief of General Staff is colonel general Momir Talic, and his deputy lieutenant-colonel general Novica Simic. The members of the General Staff are major general Vlado Lizdek - head of Administration of land forces, major general Dragisa Marsal - head of Sector OM and PP, major general Radivoje Tomanic - head of Sector for background, colonel Milorad Kutlesic -head of the Sector for moral, information and legal affairs.

SARAJEVO - The spokesman of EU Ivo Ilic Gabara denied the writing of Sarajevo media that six millions of ECUs donated by RS went to FRY. In the statement for SRNA he explained that EU made payments from these resources on the account of OHR, which transferred it in DEM on the account of Banja Luka Bank in Frankfurt, and through its branches directly to beneficiaries". According to him, these funds are strictly controlled and there is no way to finish on the accounts our of RS. The EU spokesman confirmed that part of resources were unfrozen from last years Donors' conference, and that son will arrive to RS.

SARAJEVO - The Finance minister of RS Novak Kondic confirmed for SRNA that from Monday March 9 will start payment of arrears of December and January salaries for the beneficiaries of state Budget by the start basis of 200 dinars. Minister Kondic said that he still is not sure that these payments will be performed in DEM as earlier announced.

BANJA LUKA - the president of Economic Chamber of Banja Luka region Svetislav Mudrenovic said that during opening of the Regional Centre for business development of specialised UN agency for industrial development (UNIDO), that from Brussels arrived the information according to which EU approved 95,000,000 ECUs as the aid and economic recovery of RS. During the presentation of this centre the manager of UNIDO from Vienna Reinold Veseli said that this international organisation wish to help to business men to make projects and proposals for future investments in economy of RS.

BANJA LUKA - The president of Republican Syndicate Cedo VOlas, using his statutory authority, nominated the B.A. lawyer Velku Odzakovic for the secretary of the Association of Syndicates of RS. Volas nominated Tane Peulic for vice-president of Syndicate centre Banja Luka, now president of Syndicate organisation of Prnjavor.

PRISTINA - The ambassadors of Contact Group member states for former Yugoslavia, lead by British ambassador Brian Daniel, visited Kosovo county and expressed worry because of the situation in Kosovo and Metohija and possibility of escalation of conflicts. During talks with deputy head of this county Veljko Odalovic and Province secretary for information Bosko Drobnjak, after detailed informing about the last events on the terrain, Ambassadors of Contact Group pointed out on the legitimacy of the state tonight against terrorism.

BELGRADE - The minister of Foreign affairs of Greece Theodoros Pangalos stressed that his country most sharply condemns the separatism and terrorism and that they oppose to any changes of new borders on Balkans. Pangalos, addressing the journalists after the meeting with his Yugoslavian counterpart Zivadin Jovanovic, stressed that Greece is striving for respect of human rights and freedom of expressing and opinion, because on the basis of these principles should be found the solution for Kosovo.

VIENNA - Under the slogan "Stop terror on Kosovo" around 1,000 Albanians, who live in Austria, participated in the protests in the centre of Vienna, in the immediate vicinity of OSCE. The protesters clearly presented their target, and that is creation of independent Republic Kosovo, while the respect of allegedly violated human and minority rights, as well as reiterated establishing autonomy through the dialogue, only the beginning phase for reaching the desired goal.

GENEVA - The front of Albanian secessionist movement, who made stronghold in Switzerland, especially in Geneva, vigorously reacts on actions of Serbian police in Srbica and other places in Kosovo, and today in Geneva, Lausanne and some other places organised mass protests. On these rallies, on which they threat Serbs by fist and swears, was expressed undoubted solidarity with Albanian terrorists on Kosovo - reports the correspondent of SRNA.

SKOPJE - Organised by Albanian extreme parties in BJRM - The parties of democratic prosperity and Democratic party of Albanians - in Skopje was held the protest rally of albanians who openly supported terrorism in Kosovo. Around 60,000 of protesters with playing Albanian national anthem, bearing in hands Albanian flags and shouting slogans in Albanian language "Kosovo Republic" and "Kosovo we are with you".

BACKA PALANKA - From the Slavonia-Baranja region /SBO/ into Vojvodina daily is moving twenty Serbs, stated for SRNA the agent of the Commissioner for refugees in Backa Palanka Radoslav Milosevic,noting that from SBO in last two months moved 3,000 people. According to him, besides Serbs from SBO are going away Slovaks, Hungarian and even Croatian population, who claim that they are forced on emigration because of various repressions of Croatian regime.
