NEWS REVIEW, REPUBLIKA SRPSKA

BANJALUKA - The vice-president of Republika Srpska (RS) and rector of the Banjaluka University Dragoljub Mirjanic went in two-day's visit in Slovenia where he will have talks with state's secretaries of the Foreign Affairs Ministry and Ministry of Science and Technology, Branko Jurij and Franc Demsarov. The RS vice-president will also visit the University in Ljubljana, where he will have talks with the rector Joze Mentiger. During a visit to Maribor, on March 6, he will visit Department for Informative Infrastructure of the Institute for Informative activities and University Library in Maribor.

VIENNA - RS Prime Minister Milorad Dodik will arrive on March 7 in Linc, the capital of Austrian province Upper Austria, in order to attend solemn Women's day celebration, organised by the Serbian Club "Vidovdan". According to the announcement of the organisers, the Prime Minister Dodik will have talks in Linc with representatives of Serbian migration clubs in Austria about current situation in Serbian countries and plans of the RS Government.

BANJALUKA - British Foreign Affairs Minister and chairman of EU Council of Ministers Robin Cook said to the delegates of RS National Assembly that the British Embassy in Sarajevo would open an office in Banjaluka very soon. That move, as well as US$ 1,500,000 of help to RS Government, would make possible for Great Britain to establish direct relations with RS, strengthening relations of RS with Europe and the international community. Robin Cook welcomed democratic changes in RS, which initiator was the President Biljana Plavsic and Premier Dodik, assessing that it creates new hope in RS and in the world that the past, marked with ethnical clashes, could be replaced with peaceful and prosperous future.

THE HAGUE - A Serb Dragoljub Kunarac (38-years-old) from Srbinje, who voluntarily surrendered to the Hague war crimes tribunal, has been transferred tonight by NATO aeroplane in the Hague prison, Scheveningen. Date of his first appearance before the court has not been released yet. Kunarac, one of six accused Serbs from Srbinje, has voluntarily surrendered to French SFOR soldiers in Filipovici, near Srbinje yesterday, accompanied by his wife Jovanka and defender Slavisa Prodanovic.

BELGRADE - British Foreign Affairs Minister Robin Cook should meet Yugoslavia President Slobodan Milosevic and it has been announced that he would have talks with the leader of Kosovo Albanians Ibrahim Rugova. The British Embassy in Belgrade could not say precise time of the Cook- Milosevic meeting, and in Milosevic's Cabinet nobody wanted to confirm information about holding this meeting.

BANJALUKA - The RS President Biljana Plavsic and delegation of Serbs from Croatia, headed by the leader of Serbian National Party from Zagreb, Milorad Pupovac, emphasised mutual interest for problem of Serbs' migration from Eastern Slavonia. As it was stated for SRNA from RS President's Cabinet, the necessity for more frequent contacts has been emphasised during the talks in Banjaluka, so cultural, scientific and all other forms of cooperation of Serbian people could be strengthen.

BANJALUKA - The Delegation of RS Government, headed by RS Prime Minister Milorad Dodik, will visit Herzegovina, where he will have talks with the municipalities' representatives about current political and economic situation in this part of RS. Dodik, with members of Government, first will visit Trebinje, and day after he should attend a session of Municipal Assembly of Trebinje, scheduled for 8,30 am.

SARAJEVO - B&H Council of Ministers decided in Srpsko Sarajevo to bring into accordance stances on offered proposal of OHR concerning organisation of ministries and permanent seat of this body, with representatives of OHR in the beginning of the next week. "The final texts of law on Council of Ministers, i.e. rule of regulations and organisation of work should be ready by March 12", said the co-chairman of the Council Boro Bosic. Bosic announced that the seat of the B&H common institutions and help of the international community will be discussed by B&H Presidency.

SARAJEVO - House of Representatives of the B&H Parliamentary Assembly rejected at the sixth session in Srpsko Sarajevo the Bill of Law on conditions and the way of conduct of relevant state judicial organs related with punishing of war criminals. Proposition was made by a delegate from Social Democratic Party Zlatko Lagumdzija. In the first part of session delegates have not accepted bill of Law on conditions and way of realising rights and duties of delegates on their positions. After the sixth session is finished, the seventh session should be held, at which would be discussed Bill of Law on policy of direct foreign investments in B&H.

BRCKO - Previous chief of staff in the RS Army (VRS) brigadier general Pero Colic stated in Brcko that Brcko must stay within RS if international community wants to carry out what was regulated by the Dayton agreement. "I am giving my position with pride, because RS Army has accomplished in the past to preserve its unity and integrity of RS territory" - said Colic.

BRCKO - After two-days' visit to Brcko UN Secretary General Special Envoy Elizabeth Rehn stated for SRNA that Serbian refugees and displaced persons from Brcko did not want to return to Muslim-Croat federation. "My general stance is that for Serbs the return to Drvar is very complicated and difficult because almost every night Serbian houses are burning", said Rehn. According to her, a great improvement has been achieved in last eight months in implementation of the Dayton agreement in the region of Brcko. She refused to comment possible outcome of the arbitrage with explanation that the chairman of the Arbitration Tribunal Robert Owens was independent in making the decision.

SARAJEVO - Delegation of religious communities in B&H, including His Holiness Dabrobosanski metropolitan Nikolaj, arrived in Tokyo where it will attend a session of Executive Board of Conference for Religions and Peace on March 7. Delegation of Japanese Government should deliver financial help in amount of US$ 50,000 to the representatives of religious communities in RS and FB&H, intended for work of Inter-Religious Council.

SARAJEVO - Deputy International Community High Representative Jacques Klein stated for SRNA that there was no ethnical cleansing of Serbs in Eastern Slavonia as it has been assessed by Serbian Intellectual Forum, but it was just fight for survival. Klein explained that Norway offered jobs to the residents of Eastern Slavonia and they have accepted it, and that is why Serbs are leaving Eastern Slavonia and going to Norway. According to him, international community is not involved in exodus of Serbs from Eastern Slavonia to Norway.

DOBOJ - A man has been killed and one injured when SFOR vehicle and a passenger car collided in Marevina near Tuzla , stated for SRNA spokesman of the North Division American colonel Peter Schiller. In this accident, under on-going investigation, three SFOR soldiers have been slightly wounded.

KOZARSKA DUBICA - Repairing of the bridge on the river Una, which connects RS and Republic of Croatia, will begin in April, stated for SRNA the president of the Executive Board of Municipal Assembly of Kozarska Dubica Branko Barac. Needed financial means will be provided by American donor and financial organisation USAID.
