NEWS REVIEW, REPUBLIKA SRPSKA

BANJALUKA - The president of Republika Srpska (RS) Biljana Plavsic announced in Banjaluka, after talks with British State Secretary for International Development Claire Short, that the next visit of hers would be organised in eastern part of RS so Great Britain would get a clear picture about needs of citizens and economy in all RS. The president of the Republic expressed satisfaction with great interest of Mrs. Short for modalities of the fastest and the most efficient help to economic development of RS. Mrs. Short said that the international community had great funds which it wanted to invest in RS and B&H.

BANJALUKA - RS president Biljana Plavsic and the Minister of Defence in RS Government Manojlo Milovanovic had talks in Banjaluka with SFOR Commander General Eric Schinseki. After two hours' talks behind closed doors participants in the talks refused to give any statements for the public.

SARAJEVO - The president in B&H Presidency from RS Momcilo Krajisnik thinks that a final agreement of members of the Presidency on B&H ambassadors in 32 countries deserves a special attention and he reminds that because of lack of time a stance about establishing diplomatic relations with FRY , i. e. dual citizenship, has not been assumed. "Question of founding a consulate of Croatia in Banjaluka has been also postponed, because I have asked to consult RS since it was a political question, and there are also objections that establishment of diplomatic relations with Zagreb are being rushed" - stated Krajisnik for the press after the meeting of the Presidency in Lukavica. He confirmed that a decision on establishing of inter-entity technical cooperation in the field of judiciary has been made, assessing that it was "a new quality because the entities have to cooperate disregarding decisions and cooperation at the level of joint organs".

SARAJEVO - B&H Presidency in Lukavica, by appointment of the Ambassador to Washington, completed process of appointing of B&H diplomats in 32 countries, and Goran Neskovic has been appointed as officer for connection of Serbian side at the Hague Tribunal. Ambassador seat of B&H in Washington, according to a previous agreement, belongs to RS, but the name of the ambassador has not been reported to the press, until concord of the USA was received. In absence of the presiding officer of the Presidency Alija Izetbegovic, who was replaced by the co-presiding of the Council of Ministers Haris Silajdzic, agrements for ambassadors to Jordan and Malaysia and General Consul of Belgium to B&H were accepted.

SARAJEVO - To revoke 33 laws without arguments, suspend some people who do not fit politically and transfer headquarters of the Government is a great courage, which could easily come home to roost one day - stated in review on the session of the National Assembly Momcilo Krajisnik, the president in B&H Presidency from RS. "I think RS National Assembly is in a bad state, and its work truly reminds me of the Assembly's of former B&H. Many things could be imposed as it was the case with the Government, but the fact it has been elected on base of one vote more can not be eliminated" - stated Krajisnik for SRNA.

SARAJEVO - The Minister for Civil Affairs and Communications in the Council of Ministers of B&H Spasoje Albijanic expressed discontent because " those who are most concerned - representatives of the Union of Municipal Associations of Refugees and Displaced Persons of RS have not been invited" to tomorrow's Conference on return of refugees to Canton of Sarajevo. "I welcome holding of this conference because it is useful to realise the fate of 140,000 Serbs who left Sarajevo, and are in RS, FR Yugoslavia (FRY) and countries of asylum now, but I am skeptical because it is being held without the presence of representatives of associations of exiled Serbs from Sarajevo" - stated Albijanic for SRNA. He emphasised that he received a written appeal of the Union of Municipal Associations of Refugees and Displaced Persons of RS, in which they were asking for protection of their rights and interests at this conference.

BANJALUKA - The Minister of Information in RS Government Rajko Vasic had talks in Banjaluka with the General Director of Serbian Press Agency (SRNA) Branislav Ilic and leadership of this media about current situation in this press agency. Representatives of SRNA informed the Minister on its work since April 1992, personnel and technical equipment, plans for the following period, correspondent network in RS, FRY and foreign countries, as well as mutual informative cooperation which SRNA has established with respectable world press agencies.

ZVORNIK - The president of the Municipal Board of Serbian Democratic Party (SDS) from Zvornik Stevo Radic assessed after talks with the chief of the team of European observers in this town Wolfgang Kaufman that the greatest part of promised funds of the international community should be invested in renewal and development of RS economy. According to him, before investing of these funds a proprietor transformation of enterprises, i.e. privatisation of state and public property, should be completed.

BANJALUKA - The president of Serbian Party of Krajina and Posavina (SSKiP) Predrag Lazarevic assessed that the international community is violating and annulling the Dayton Agreement by insisting on return of refugees to RS. At the press-conference in Banjaluka he emphasised that his party supports the Dayton Agreement, but demands reciprocity during return of refugees. Assessing that all Serbian refugees from Sarajevo will never come back to their town, Lazarevic warned that return of Muslim and Croats to RS could be discussed only when Serb were allowed to return to all parts of B&H Federation and former Republika Srpska Krajina.

CLEVELAND - With change of authority in RS the international community, but also American media, made a positive turnabout in the attitude toward RS, which would unavoidably lead to change of stance toward Muslim-Croatia entity - is written in "Los Angeles Times". B&H Federation is expected to carry out democratisation of political system taking RS as a model - claims the paper, and informs a correspondent of SRNA.
