NOV. 27 1997 EVENING

NEWS REVIEW, REPUBLIKA SRPSKA

BANJALUKA - The President of Republika Srpska (RS) Biljana Plavsic received in Banjaluka the representatives of basketball clubs "Borac Nektar" and the Greek major leaguer "Iraclia", which will tonight, in the hall "Borik" play the first international basketball game in RS. She reminded friends from Greece that the airport in Banjaluka was recently opened and expressed hope that the Greece air-lines will be among first which will open their lines toward RS. The guests from Greece invited Mrs. Plavsic to visit town Iraclion on Crete.

SARAJEVO - The President in Bosnia and Herzegovina (B&H) Presidency from Republika Srpska (RS) Momcilo Krajisnik received in farewell visit the British general Cordy Simpson which, during the shorter but cordial conversation, pointed out at good cooperation with RS representatives and specially with RS Army. President Krajisnik also received the High Representative's Aid Boris Habirov and they discussed about results of passed elections and about modalities for consistent implementation of Dayton Agreement.

SARAJEVO - The RS Minister of Information Svetlana Siljegovic considers that the "passed pre-election campaign in RS is an unique case in the world, because the ruling party did not had access to the strongest state media - the Serbian Radio Television (SRT)" and in that sense hers "position in regard to other parties was subordinated". "How much the position of the media was unusual", emphasises Siljegovic for SRNA "shows the enormous pressure of the International Community and opposition parties on all media, including those in the municipal property, but, the Serbian Democratic Party (SDS) did not made problems and everything gone well". Siljegovic "soon expects the united SRT, in both ways - editorial and technical" in other words, as she emphasised "the united television as it was before".

SARAJEVO - The RS Government forwarded an open letter to the Head of the OSCE Mission in Bosnia and Herzegovina (B&H) Robert Frowick in which the serious objections were made - because of statements made by some high officials of International Community about results of the parliamentary elections, which will be officially announced till December 10th. The RS Government assessed the statement of High Representative for B&H Carlos Westendorp and his congratulation to Biljana Plavsic's Serbian National Union (SNS) for 20 won seats in RS National Assembly - as especially harmful and tendentious.

SARAJEVO - The RS Government decided to halt all further negotiations with the European Bank for Development and Reconstruction which, until constituting of the new Government, delayed already agreed signing of the contract with the RS Minister of Energetics Milorad Skoko about investing in the electric industry of RS. At the very same ceremony this change has been reported to Minister Skoko and that was assessed as "extremely unacceptable and tendentious".

SARAJEVO - The Co-chair of B&H Council of Ministers Boro Bosic announced for SRNA, that the final document with the London Club of Creditors, which passed the verification of the B&H Presidency and Parliamentary Assembly, should be signed at December 8th. After the meeting in the National Museum in Sarajevo he notified the journalists about the intention to form the joint working group which will be in charge of compensation of former Ljubljana bank's clients from RS and B&H Federation (FB&H). The joint group will be composed of two representatives from each of three nations in B&H with participation of representatives from Republic Slovenia.

MOSTAR - The OHR spokesman Duncan Bullivant denounced the FB&H television because of "groundless criticism" which was forwarded to Westerndorp's demand for changing the new laws about housing and property relations which prevents returning of refugees - reports the Croatian radio of Herzeg- Bosnia.

BANJALUKA - The General Director of the Public state enterprise RS "Telecommunications" Milenko Stanic assessed in Banjaluka that the joining of RS to the international telephone traffic and using of the code which RS recently has received is, at this moment, a most important task. At the press conference, he announced that parallely with the international code for B&H the RS will use the international traffic through calling number for Yugoslavia, 381 with the characteristic subcode - the number 5 for RS.

SARAJEVO - The foreign press assesses that the national parties will win at the early parliamentary elections, and the first unofficial results, without the counted votes from abroad, shows that this assessment are right. But about the results of the Serbian National Union (SNS) led by the RS President Biljana Plavsic the prognoses are different - from the complete failure, to the much better result after counting of votes from abroad - the text "The Victory of SDS and SRS - SNS /un/successful" prepared by SRNA journalist Darko Terzic.

SRBINJE - The Serbian Radical Party (SRS) in Srbinje is satisfied with the temporary results of the parliamentary elections, according to which radicals won 50.75% of votes. The journalists were informed that the agreement about municipal authority was achieved by SDS and SRS.

VISEGRAD - The President of the SDS municipal board in Visegrad Branimir Savovic expects that SDS and SRS will form the new municipal government. He reminded in the statement for SRNA, that 91.22% of citizens in Visegrad cast their ballots, and expressed regret because that was not a case in other parts of RS.

BELGRADE - The Commissioner for refugees of the Republic of Serbia (FRY) Bratislava Morina considers that a best solution for the displaced persons is voluntary returning, which is possible if the International Community provides conditions for safe life. She talked in Belgrade with the high official of the Norwegian Ministry of Foreign Affairs Bjorn Eric Broustard about humanitarian situation and about possibilities for finding the solutions for refugee problems in Federal Republic Yugoslavia.
