NEWS REVIEW, REPUBLIKA SRPSKA

PRIJEDOR - The president of the Government of Republika Srpska /RS/ Gojko Klickovic highlighted in Prijedor that for reconstruction of economy in this city is provided the first part of the loan of 325,000 German Marks, and the money will be directed on production in enterprises "Protekt", "Kseroks", "Elker", "Fadis", "Borac", Metalna industrija", "Vatrostalna" and "Prijedorcanka". During the talks with the economists from Prijedor Klickovic stressed that for these enterprises will soon come the second part of 500,000 DEM, what will allow the continuation of production. The president of the Government stated that the factory of cellulose and paper "Celpak" will be transformed into the smaller units and by that be enabled for independent production, and the start of production he announced for the autumn.

SARAJEVO - The minister of industry and energetic in the Government of RS Milorad Skoko talked in Pale with the representatives of the Japanese, Canadian and British Government about their investments in the rehabilitation and reconstruction of the electrical power system of RS. "The representatives of these countries have intention to invest in the reconstruction of electrical power system of B&H in the next year new twenty million of US $, of which the significant part will be sent to RS", explained the minister Skoko. He stressed that Japan "is more and more put on as one of the strongest donators in the rehabilitation of the electric power system of RS".

SARAJEVO - The ministry of the Internal Affairs /MUP/ of RS denied the report of the Banja Luka studio of the Serbian Radio that in Trebinje was allegedly held the meeting of the workers of the public and state security, on which is required the dismissal of the leaders of the Centres of Public and State Security in Trebinje. In the public announcement MUP of RS precisely stated that this radio broadcasted the announcement of the illegal MUP from Banja Luka that the mentioned meeting was held because of alleged passing of the truck with the smuggling goods through the territory of CJB /centre of the public security/ Trebinje on October 6, 1997. "The meeting of that kind wasn't held in Trebinje, as well as the passing of such goods was not registered" - is said in the announcement of MUP of RS.

TREBINJE - The director of the directorate of the Serbian Democratic Party of the Serbian states /SDS SZ/ Vlado Vrkes stated in Trebinje that "the part of the international community wants to disable SDS to participate qualitatively on the parliamentary elections and so push it aside from the political scene in RS". "By that Republika Srpska would be finished as the state, and in that case would be strengthened the parties which prefer the reintegration of B&H, and Serbian people would again be forced on emigration" - assessed Vrkes. He expressed the worry because the results from Brcko were not published, stating the possibility of repeating the "scenario with the votes from bags", first of all because SDS in this city was successful, so it could change the proportion of forces in the municipal organs.

BANJA LUKA - At the firing range of the Lecture-recruit centre "Manjaca" near Banja Luka tomorrow will, along with participation of the units of the First and Third Corps, be held the finishing part of the joint tactical exercise of the members of Army of RS /VRS/ "Jesen '97" /autumn '97/. The preparations for this great joint tactical exercise started on October 1, and its objective is drilling and checking the readiness of units of VRS for defence from the potential aggressor on RS.

BANJA LUKA - The president of municipal assembly of Knezevo VUjadin Miljic denied the information of the Serbian radio-TV - studio Banja Luka that the president of RS Biljana Plavsic talked with the economic delegation of this municipality about the economic development of Knezevo. "Only exact fact in this information is that the group of citizens of Knezevo visited president Plavsic, and all other allegations are incorrect" - is stated in the letter.

SARAJEVO - The directors and Editors in chief of about twenty local radio- stations in RS sent from the public tribune of SRT in Pale the requirement to the international community to enable work of journalists of this house and urgently lift the blockade of the TV transmitters. Expressing the solidarity with the workers of SRT - studio Serbian Sarajevo, who started with strike four days ago, because of disabling this studio to broadcast the programming, the participants of the tribune sent a message that this studio, together with others, has the right to continue the work, in accordance with the Belgrade's agreement.

SARAJEVO - The High international Representative Carlos Westendorp stated that SFOR will control the transmitters of SRT until the president of the Steering Board and the general director of SRT Momcilo Krajisnik and Miroslav Toholj and the vicepresident of RS Government resign - reports AFP. The French agency states that Westendorp stated this to president Krajisnik.

DOBOJ - The director of the Serbian radio Doboj Milenko Gligoric condemned the messages of Abdulah Sidran, given in the programming of the Banja Luka studio of SRT as open incentive for hating Serbs and compromising RS and Serbian people as the whole. In the programming, broadcasted by the order of the international community on the basis of agreement Shinseki - Krajisnik, Sidran libelled Serbs as aggressors, using the possibility to talk on SRT for propaganda of Moslem territorial pretensions towards RS, stated Gligoric for TANJUG.

PRIJEDOR - The municipal board of Democratic Patriotic Party of Prijedor expressed at the press conference the discontentment with occupying the TV transmitters of SRT by SFOR. "We are discontent with this act of SFOR and the action which we deem as premature, while for the Belgrade's agreement there was no time to be realised" - stated the president of the party Mirko Brkic.

BELGRADE - The president of FR Yugoslavia /FRY/ Slobodan Milosevic and the chief of OSCE mission for B&H Robert Frowick agreed in Belgrade that it is necessary to announce as soon as possible the results of the municipal elections in RS and FB&H so the implementation of Dayton agreement would be done in the anticipated dynamics. In the talks with Milosevic Frowick positively assessed the local elections in both entities, and it was expressed the expectation of both sides that soon the municipal boards would be established, which acting have to secure the further fulfilment of the Dayton commitments, and especially accelerated economic reconstruction and creating the conditions for economic development.

BELGRADE - The Belgrade's lawyer Igor Pantelic, the defender of several Serbs indicted for war crimes, assessed in the statement for SRNA that the condition for "honest and fair trial", about which yesterday in Belgrade talked the U.S. envoy for Balkans Robert Gelbard, would be " the revision of the Hague's indictments against Serbs". "If the indictments are unfair it cannot be expected the fair trial" - said Pantelic.

WASHINGTON - The U.S. defence secretary William Cohen stated that France shares the opinion of U.S.A. on need for reducing the NATO troops in RS and FB&H on the "avert forces" - reports AFP. Cohen stated after the meeting with the French counterpart Alain Richard in Paris that France agrees with the decreasing the number of NATO soldiers until the spring 1998.
