NEWS REVIEW, REPUBLIKA SRPSKA

BANJA LUKA - The president of Republika Srpska /RS/ Biljana Plavsic and vice-president Dragoljub Mirjanic met in Banja Luka with the High Representatives of international community for civil affairs for B&H Carl Bildt. Meeting is also attended by minister of internal affairs of RS Dragan Kijac, his deputy Milenko Karisik, as well as the head of Police Station in Brcko Andrija Bjelosevic, and the commander of SFOR general William Crouch, the commissioner of IPTF Manfred Zeitner and the special envoy of the UN General Secretary Kai Eide.

SARAJEVO - At the Council of Ministers of B&H is signed the Law on budget and execution of budget, and it is agreed that the problems of adopting the law from the package for rapid start would be clarified as soon as possible - stated after the session the co-presiding of the Council Boro Bosic. Accentuating that the todays meeting was "more consulting than meeting", Bosic added that some problems appeared regarding the agenda, and that it is agreed that until next session, scheduled for Tuesday, May 27, additional preparations will be made and the part of tasks necessary for holding the Donors conference will be done.

DOBOJ - The spokesman of the Nordic-Polish brigade of SFOR major Artur Bilski announced in Doboj that all check points were removed, in the zone of responsibility of this brigade, which comprise the wider Doboj's region. At the press conference he stated that "during the week was closed all eight control check points, except the one at the bridge over the Usora river on the main road Doboj - Tesanj, which is still functioning".

DOBOJ - The Serbian authorities treat quit correctly the arrested officer of the Croatian Defence Council /HVO/ Ivan Mijacic, who is in Doboj's Regional prison, and he didn't complaint - announced at the press conference in Doboj the spokesman of IPTF Andre Angeli. He informed the journalists that "the representatives of the international Police are visiting Mijacic every second day, and other members of the international organisations are contacting him too.

SARAJEVO - The High Representative for B&H Carl Bildt warned that the donor's conference will be held at the end of June, only in case if RS and Federation B&H /FB&H/ reach the agreement about the package of economic laws at the level of joint organs. However, if until the end of May the Laws about Central Bank, currency, customs and foreign debts are not brought, the international community would loose the confidence in the work of joint institutions and international community could re- consider the level of financial aid, warned Bildt in the statement for press in Sarajevo.

BANJA LUKA - The vice-president of the RS Government for economy and finance Djuradj Banjac opened in the Gallery of arts in Banja Luka the First fair of tourism of RS "TURS Banja Luka '97". " This is one of examples of our orientation for openness towards the world and market", said Banjac.

SARAJEVO - The president of the Republic Electoral Commission Petko Cancar called the organisations, companies and parties in RS to include themselves actively in the campaign of registering the voters for local elections which are, according to him, of the first order interest for strengthening RS. "The citizens must know that their vote in the local elections is the vote for RS, and that without registration there is no voting, and the elections will be held regardless the number of registered voters," warned Cancar.

SARAJEVO - Five offices for registering voters near Banja Luka were closed because, according to OSCE spokesman David Folly, alleged "attempt of deceit, and the measurements of security". Folly stated in Sarajevo that some forms were filled against the rules, and that some offices will be opened under police protection".
