NEWS REVIEW, REPUBLIKA SRPSKA

BANJALUKA - The RS vice-president Dragoljub Mirjanic, talked in Banjaluka with a delegation from Herzegovina about economic cooperation between Banjaluka and Herzegovina regions. They concluded the RS leadership should take a more active approach in dealing with economic problems, especially those form the energy sector which is the main economic sector in Herzegovina.

SARAJEVO - Minister for civil affairs and communication in the Council of Ministers, Spasoja Albijanic, and RS minister of transport and communications, Nedeljko Lajic, talked in Pale with the World Bank executive director for Europe, Pieter Steik, about the use of assistance of Bank's funds in B-H. Albijanic said after the meeting the talks concerned a new Bank's strategy in relation to preparations for donor's conference which is to take place in early June in Brussels.

SARAJEVO - The Serbian Democratic Party (SDS) for Serbian lands is in its tenth session to finalise lists of candidates for the local elections.

BANJALUKA - The promotion of the "Strategic Plan of Reform and Reconstruction of the RS Health Care System 1997-2000", drawn by the Ministry's experts team with the help of WHO, was held in Banjaluka.

DOBOJ - SFOR Base in Doboj confirmed IPTF information that in the Ozren community of Krtova, which now belong to the B-H Federation, the Serbs who returned to their houses after the signing of the Dayton agreement were harassed.

SARAJEVO - In Serb municipalities of Novo Sarajevo, Ilidza and Trnovo, 3, 436 voters were registered, while voters registration in Petrovici and Tilava will take place until 17 and 18 of May. A fair number of voters were registered also in other cities of RS.

BANJALUKA - The Serbian Party of the Krajina and Posavina will participate at the local elections independently, stated party's president Predrag Lazarevic, who said that all Serbs should vote in RS and refugees should vote in places where they live now.

CLEVELAND - Although arms have been silent in the former Yugoslavia for over a year, the Serbian people in Croatia still seek shelter in forests, because Croatian authorities finalise their ethnic cleansing campaign, this time through programmes for the return Croats who live abroad and their accommodation in Serbian houses. "The Serbs are threatened and harassed not only by Croat gangs, but also by Croat soldiers", say US media.

ROME - Yelling of Fascist paroles from the age of Ustashe so-called Independent State of Croatia, on occasion of awarding Corat policemen in Mostar, provoked serious concern with the international community, concludes Italian ANSA.
