He also anticipated that very soon - the federal and republican regulations will harmonised with international trade legislation and that talks about import preferences will soon be initiated with interested parties.Speaking about the future liberalisation of Yugoslav foreign trade, Mr. Vukovic remarked that this year some 50% of the national product will be exported. The same high official said that bearing in mind that in 1995 the trade volume in both directions reached about 2.5 billion dollars, a volume close to 5 billion dollars should be expected this year. [02] GREAT BRITAIN FAVOURS A QUICK RE-INTEGRATION OF FR YUGOSLAVIA INTO THE INTERNATIONAL COMMUNITYThe Charge d Affaires of the British Embassy in Belgrade - Mr. Ivor Roberts, stated on Sunday in an interview for Radio Kragujevac that one of the priorities of the British Government is to hasten the reintegration of FR Yugoslavia into the international community in the diplomatic and economic sphere."Great Britain is heading the activities concerning the introduction of full diplomatic relations between Belgrade and the European Union. The course of events is now dynamically following this direction. The British Government will be one of the first to send an Ambassador to Belgrade and this move is imminent." - Mr. Roberts stressed. [03] GIVING FRY ITS REPUTATIONThe strengthening of the ties and closer economic co-operation with Balkan countries and their approximation to Europe will be one of the foremost tasks of the new Greek Government - local diplomatic circles affirm. Among the ambassadors that the Greece should soon appoint is the ambassador to Yugoslavia. Greek circles also reiterate that in the past three and a half years, Athens strongly pursued a quick political settlement of the crisis in former Yugoslavia as well as the re-integration of FRY into the international community and its organisations.Such assertions are confirmed by the Greek press - indicating that by the end of this month, Greece, France and Great Britain will propose the EU recognition of FR Yugoslavia. Sources in Athens also stress that the active introduction of FRY to the international political scene is in the interest of the stabilisation of the events in the region within which Yugoslavia plays an extremely important role. [04] ELECTIONS THIS FALLMr. Ivica Dacic - Spokesman of the Socialist Party of Serbia stated at the TANJUG s Guest tribune that regular elections on the federal and local level will be organised during the second half of the year and that the elections in Serbia will take place when the mandate of the parliament deputies expires.He also added that the practice of calling elections when mandate of the parliament deputies expires should be introduced, and that now - for the first time since the introduction of the democratic system in Serbia - we have a chance of calling regular parliamentary elections. (Politika Ekspres, January 22, 1996.) [05] ANTICIPATION OF NORMALISED RELATIONSSerbian Minister of Information - Mr. Ratomir Vico, completed his visit to Germany. During the encounter with Yugoslav citizens living in the area covered by the Yugoslav Consulate in Dusseldorf, Mr. Vico underscored that after the international sanctions against our country have been suspended, the climate has obviously changed in Germany and that the desire to normalise relations and co-operation in all spheres has become evident.During his visit last week, Mr. Vico visited the most important media centres in Germany, and he has been received in Bonn by high officials of the Ministry of Interior and Foreign Office. He also met with officials of the Federal Government Press Bureau - representing the German Ministry of Information.(Borba, January 22, 1996.) [06] YUGOSLAV AIRLINES FLIGHTS TO USThe US Department of Transport issued a document which removes the remaining administrative obstacles for the normalisation of air-traffic between FR Yugoslavia and the United States. All American and foreign airlines have been informed about the decision, as well as travel agencies, the International Air Transport Association (IATA) and the International Air Cargo Association.The decision complies with the decree signed by President Clinton before New Year s which suspended all US sanctions against FR Yugoslavia.(Borba, January 22, 1996.) [07] MORINA: UNHCR HAS BEEN INFORMED ABOUT THE ACCOMMODATION AND THE TREATMENT OF THE MOSLEM REFUGEESMoslems from Srebrenica and Zepa that fled to FR Yugoslavia since August 1, 1995, have been under constant and direct care of the UNHCR and the ICRC. said the Serbian Commissioner for Refugees - Ms. Bratislava Morina in an interview for TANJUG.Reacting to a number of articles published by western newspapers and the statements made by some Moslems that have been granted asylum by European countries - to the effect that they were treated badly and even harassed in the reception centres in Mitrovo Polje (on the slopes of Mt. Goc)and in Sljivovica (near the town of Uzice)- Ms. Morina stressed that from the very first day the international organisations were allowed to supply food and medicines to these two camps, to visit the Moslem refugees and to help them establish contacts with their families. The Serbian Commissioner for Refugees also stressed that about 300 Moslems publicly expressed their gratitude to Serbia for saving them from the revenge of the Moslem leaders, adding that they would no longer fight because they realise the senselessness of the war. Out of the 796 Muslims that came to Yugoslavia in August (from Srebrenica and Zepa) 75 have left our country. The UNHCR is still trying to provide a place to live for the remaining ones. [08] THE REPUBLIC OF SRPSKA FULFILLED ALL ITS DAYTON COMMITMENTSMr. Momcilo Krajisnik - Speaker of the National Parliament of the Republic of Srpska, stated during his talks with Mr. Michael Steiner (Deputy Envoy of the international community for civilian issues)yesterday that the Serbian side is striving to prevent incidents that might jeopardise peace and the established trust, as well as to have the sanctions lifted including the blockade on the river Drina. Mr. Krajisnik asked Mr. Steiner to endorse certain corrections which would allow a better settlement of the current problems. He also indicated that the Republic of Srpska fulfilled all its obligations defined by the Dayton Agreement . The Bosnian Serb high official appealed that something be done about the Moslem obstructionism in the exchange of war prisoners. "We are prepared to release all our prisoners immediately, but the Moslems are still refusing to do as much - stressed Mr. Krajisnik.(Vecernje Novosti, January 21, 1996.)[09] ELIZABETH RENN WILL VISIT SREBRENICA AND PRIJEDORThe Government of the Republic of Srpska revealed that Ms. Elizabeth Renn - Special UN Envoy for Human Rights, will visit the towns of Srebrenica and Prijedor between February 4 and 8. This visit, which will include a the Lubija mines, has been authorised after a personal request by Ms. Renn, just like her previous tour when she visited Prijedor and Novi Grad. On that occasion she also asked to go to Sanski Most, where a large number of Serb prisoners is being held, but the Moslem authorities did not allow her to.(TANJUG, January 21, 1996.)[10] READY FOR CO-OPERATIONDelegations of the Republic of Srpska and the Republic of Croatia met in Banjaluka and hailed the signing of the Dayton peace agreement including all its annexes, leading to the implementation of peace in Bosnia and Herzegovina.Both sides, headed by Bosnian Serb Prime Minister Rajko Kasagic and Mr. Slobodan Lang - Advisor Of the Croatian President for humanitarian issues, expressed readiness to help the quick normalisation of the conditions of life by establishing economic and other relations. The abolition of the compulsory employment in the Republic of Srpska has been praised as a concrete step in improving human rights, as well as the Croatian humanitarian campaign Let s Save a Life for the protection of the Serbs that stayed in Croatia, i.e. in the former UN Protected Areas North , South and West.
