Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty (RFE/RL) Newsline
Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty (RFE/RL) broadcasts news and current
affairs programs daily in 23 languages to a regular audience of 25 million
listeners across Central Europe and the former Soviet Union.
The most popular foreign radio station in this strategically vital
region, RFE/RL is a unique media organization funded by grants from the
U. S. Congress and chartered in Delaware as a private, non-profit
corporation.
This structure confers on RFE/RL the journalistic independence that is
essential to its role as a "surrogate," alternative "home service" for
countries of the former Soviet bloc and the successor states of Yugoslavia.

The HR-Net Group selects and archives articles from the RFE/RL Newsline
which pertain to Greece and the Balkans (Southeastern section), but also
the Transcaucasian region.
