    Graduation ceremony takes place today of the seventh batch of the EXECUTIVE MASTER OF BUSINESS ADMINISTRATION as part of the Institute of Public Administration of Businesses of Bucharest - ASEBUSS - in the presence of the President of Romania, Emil Constantinescu, of the representative of the World Bank to Bucharest, Ziad Alahdab, of members of the US Embassy, of Romanian and foreign businessmen as well as the media. The ceremony takes place at the World Trade Center of Bucharest.

    Swearing in ceremony of judges of the Supreme Court of Justice at the Cotroceni Palace in the presence of the President of Romania, Emil Constantinescu, at 14:00 today.

    Press conference of the PDSR Parliamentary Group at the Press Center of the Chamber of Deputies today.

    Foreign minister Petre Roman is attending the United Nations General Assembly session in New York.

    UNSIE which is the National Trade Union for European Integration organizes the conference on the theme FUNDAMENTAL RIGHTS: inclusion of these rights into the European Union and the documents of the European Union.

    The Bal Jagat Children's World in collaboration with the General Department for Child Protection invites all those interested to attend the opening of the MONTESSORI kindergarten here in Bucharest. The kindergarten is for institutionalized children.

    At Sibiu, Central Romania, opening of the General International Fair EXPOSIB 2000 organized by the Chamber of Commerce, Industry and Agriculture of Sibiu and the Consulate General of Germany.

    Of the world events tomorrow we mention the Opening of the XXVII -th Edition of the Olympic Games.

    [02] Press conference at the Finance Ministry of Romania

    As part of a press conference at the Finance Ministry of Romania Cabinet Minister Decebal Traian Remes presented the conclusions of the negociations of the Romanian authorities conducted with the IMF delegation in the last two weeks. Mr. Remes said that the two sides have reached an accord regarding the necessary steps to be taken for the second analysis of the stand-by accord. The still unsolved issue are linked to arrears, salaries of employees of state owned companies and the intentions of the cabinet of rectifying this year's budget.

    These are the issues which the IMF will discuss at its yearly meetings and also during the World Bank meetings which will take place in Prague starting 23 September.

    [03] Bankrupt goes the International Bank of Religions

    Friday 14:00 is the deadline for the lists of the persons that have deposits at the International Bank of Religions of the city of Bucharest said attorney Calin Zamfirescu who represents the company which is in charge with the liquidation of the Bank. Together with the Romanian Bank for Devlopment the lists are to be checked and then a schedule be worked out to pay back deposits.

    [04] Romania has two proposals of transfrontier collaboration with the Republic of Moldova

    Romania has two proposals for the Republic of Moldova namely the building of a bridge over the river Prut linking the towns of Radauti and Liscani and the building of a high voltage power line between Falciu and Cantemiri. The projects will have part of the funding from the European Union. However for the time being Romania has ceased power supply to the Republic of Moldova as the latter owes us 32 million USD.

    [05] Romanian - Tunisian talks

    Bucharest hosted Romanian -Tunisian talks which are part of the good relations of collaboration between the two countries. A protocol was also signed for the work of the mixed commission of economic, scientific and technical cooperation.

    [06] Visit of Ambassador James Rosapepe to the town of Oradea

    The Ambassador of the United States to Romania, James Rosapepe, visited the company INFRATIREA of Oradea which has American majority stok holding. In the afternoon

    Mr. Rosapepe worked on the site of the foundation HABITAT FOR MANKIND in the town of Beius.

    During a short press conference which followed the United States Ambassador said that he was of the opinion that regardless of the result of elections in Romania in the fall the reform would continue in all walks of life, reported RADIO ROMANIA ACTUALITATI.

    [07] Statement of Ion Iliescu, President of the Party of Social Democracy of Romania

    PDSR President Ion Iliescu met in Washington with personalities of political life and with businessmen as part of the visit he makes to the USA. In an interview to RADIO ROMANIA ACTUALITATI Mr. Iliescu said the prospect of alternation to power is viewed with interest by American circles and there are no reserves in this field in as far as future collaboration with PDSR is concerned if that party comes back to power. Mr. Iliescu also said that the foreign policy of our country would continue to be directed at Euro -Atlantic integration. He added in conclusion that he would consider all requests of United States dialog partners aimed at Romania's economic relaunching.
