Statement of vice -president of the Social Democracy Party of Romania Adrian NastaseThe first vice-president of the Social Democracy Party of Romania, Adrian Nastase estimated that neither of the four main countercandidates of Ion Iliescu in the presidential race, namely Theodor Stolojan, Mugur Isarescu, Teodor Melescanu or Petre Roman, would reach the second round alongside the President of PDSR - Social Democracy Party of Romania. Mr. Nastase is of the opinion that the resembling image of the four and the fact that each is attacking the others could lead to their loosing elections in the first ballot. Hence chances remain with the Greater Romania Party leader - PRM - Corneliu Vadim Tudor - who has been shaping his campaign and will continue to do likewise according to the negative attitude of those that voice their discontent with the developments in Romania in the last four years. On the other hand, if any of the first four could pass the first ballot, these are Theodor Stolojan or Mugur Isarescu who might be the adversaries of Ion Iliescu in the second ballot.

The campaign of the Romanian Democratic Party will be strictly tailored to meet the expectations of the people and will not be focused on the politicians, underlined Mr. Berceanu among other things, specifiying among other things that a novel element will be the priority lists drawn according to the uninominal vote. There are three principles that are at the basis of this campaign: domestic competition, renewal which implies new names of potential parliamentarians and the unity of all positive forces of the party, also said the vicepresident of the Democratic Party quoted by RADIO ROMANIA ACTUALITATI.
