    [02] Message of the President of Romania to the graduates of the National Institute of Informatics

    President Emil Constantinescu estimates in the message to the graduates of the National Institute of Informatics that the present graduates have the chance to work in a modern institution which is able to perform according to its fundamental requirements in accordance with the principles and norms and the state of law. According to RADIO ROMANIA ACTUALITATI the President of Romania asked the graduates the abide by the laws of the country and observe democracy as well as fredoms and liberties of the citizens which are warranted by the Constitution of the country. The Head of the Romanian State also mentions in his message that mistakes made in this profession may affect the course of the entire Romanian society.

    [03] The CERNAVODA Atom Power Plant was stopped on a temporary basis

    A fault with the system of the Atom Power Plant of Cernavoda brought about the stopping of the reactor. According to the management of CERNAVODA the stopping of the plant was just a security measure and the fault with the working system was not of a nature to harm the people or the environment. Repair activity will last for a week. CERNAVODA is the only atom power station in Eastern Europe that is entirely made with Western technlogy. In its peak working stage the atom power plant will have five reactors; for the time being working is only the first which was started in 1996.

    Manager Ionel Bucur told RADIO ROMANIA ACTUALITATI that in accordance with the current procedures the reactor was stopped on Sunday at zero hundred hours without any danger for the staff, people in the neighbourhood or the environment. Repair work of the equipment feeding the reactor will last for seven days and are unfolding according to already approved procedures.

    [05] Debates of the Summer University at Balvanyos

    Honorary President of UDMR Laszlo Tokes who attended the debates of the Balvanyos Summer University spoke to the media and he said that a sine qua non condition for European integration was the ensurance of the rights of minorities. He said he was not happy with the politics of UDMR - Union of Democratic Magyars of Romania - and added that the Cabinet in Bucharest deperately needed UDMR as, Tokes added, Romania would not be included in the European Union if she ignored the situation of the Magyars in this country. Profesor Manolescu who also attended the debates of the Balvanyos University said that UDMR obtained all they could obtain for the Magyar community and specified that any exageration could become counterperforming, reports RADIO ROMANIA ACTUALITATI.

    Special Cabinet session chaired by State Cabinet Minister Mircea Ciumara devoted to the analysis and approval of the budgets of the state owned companies included in the Ordinance which refers to the limitation of salaries of state owned companies employees.

    Political Council of CDR - Romanian Democratic Convention - takes place also today.

    The Executive Central Committee of the Social Democracy Party of Romania meets in session today.

    The business center MAREA NEAGRA of the town of Mangalia hosts in the interval 31 July - 2 August -the working seminar on the theme CONTROL OF FISCAL DECLARATIONS which is devoted to the training of staff that implements RIS in Romania.

    On the occasion of the anniversary of the Holiday of the Army of the People's Republic of China the National Military Museum hosts the exhibition on the theme THE GLORIOUS ROAD OF THE ARMY OF PEOPLE'S CHINA with the Ambassador of China in attendance as well as with military attachees in Bucharest and personalities of our political, economic, cultural and military life.

    The Bucharest National Center hosts the International Championships of Romania of young tennis players under 14 as usual under the name of the sponsor THE COMPAQ TROPHY.
