Tonk Sandor who is the president of the SAPIENTIA Foundation of Hungary has said at the debates that a private university would be a new chance for the development of education in the Hungarian language in Romania. Present at the debates, Csoto Joszef, secretary of state with the Ministry of Education of Romania upheld the principle of complementariness between state subsidized and private education as, according to his estimations, the number of Magyar speaking students will be of 22,000 in 2010. He added that present legislation allows for the existence of private education and education in the mother tongues of the coinhabiting ethnic nationalities living in Romania.
