  • [01] President of Romania promulgates the bill ratifying the addendum to the finance memorandum between the government of Romania and the European Commission

    President Emil Constantinescu signed the bill for the ratification of the addendum to the finance memorandum between the Cabinet of Romania and the European Commission which was concluded in Bucharest last October and which is destined to supporting the Child Protection Reform. 10 MILLION EURO are given with the aim to ensure an acceptable level of child care in all state institutions, for the repair and maintenance of equipment, for the delivery of goods and services and for sustaining the strategy of global reform, reads a communique from the Presidency of Romania quoted by RADIO ROMANIA ACTUALITATI.     [02] Statement of the Romanian minister of justice Stoica upon his return from the United Nations Vienna Congress

    Main state institutions will apply joint strategy in the following interval for solving dossiers of corruption and criminality - said the Minister of Justice Valeriu Stoica upon his return from Vienna where he attended the 10- th Congress of the United Nations that was focused on CRIMINALITY AND JUSTICE. In his speech from the rostrum of the Vienna congress Valeriu Stoica declared that Romania will do whatever is necessary to put into effect the political declaration of Vienna which is signed by the representatives of all UN member states in order to combat crime and in as far as the treatment of inmates is concerned.     [03] Romanian Parliamentary delegation now on a visit to Chisinau

    The President of the Senate, Mircea Ionescu Quintus, started a visit on Sunday to Chisinau, the capital of the Republic of Moldova at the invitation of the speaker of the Parliament of the Republic of Moldova Dumitru Diacov. Right on the airport of Chisinau Mr. Quintus said the relations of Romania with the Republic of Moldova are a priority. The visit of the Romanian parliamentary delegation is part of the process of reactivation of activity of the Bucharest - Chisinau interparliamentary Committee informs RADIO ROMANIA ACTUALITATI. During their visit to Chisinau the Romanian parliamentary delegation will have talks with the leaders of the parliamentary groups, with foreign minister Tabacaru, with prime minister Braghis and with the President of the Republic of Moldova Petru Lucinschi.     [04] Romania is asking the NATO members for support in making up for the losses worth 100 million USD in the wake of the floods

    Romanian military mission in Brussels at the NATO Headquarters asked for the support of the members in order to make up for the losses in the wake of the floods. Damage assessment reads 100 million USD. RADOR

    [05] Constanta, on the Black Sea Coast of Romania, saw the conclusion of the first interregional conference of cooperation among the countries of the Black Sea area

    During the conference the present cooperation process was analysed as well as the study of the European Commission on the Black Sea area and the existing financial instruments as part of interregional and transnational cooperation. Participants of the Ukraine, Turkey, Bulgaria, Russia, Greece, the Republic of Moldova, France and Italy underlined the necessity of developing cooperation in the area. Representatives of Romania advanced the proposal for a technical secretariate to be set up at Constanta, a proposal which was received with satisfaction. RADOR

    [06] Romanian minister of transports says embargo against Yugoslavia is partly suspended

    Traian Basescu announced on Sunday at a press conference that following government decision on Thursday regarding partial lifting of the embargo against Yugoslavia, starting 17 April all ships under Yugoslav pavillion are allowed in all Romanian harbors and on the Danube - Black Sea Canal. Romanian companies may export oil and oil products to Yugoslavia, informs RADIO ROMANIA ACTUALITATI. RADOR

    [07] UDMR - Union of Democratic Magyars of Romania - nominate candidates for the local elections

    The town of Sfantu Gheorghe in county Covasna announced that mayor Almos Albert should be the candidate of UDMR for the position of mayor of the town following ballot of the Union which also designated the runners to the positions of counsellors and vice mayors. RADIO ROMANIA ACTUALITATI also reports that more than 5000 voters cast their ballot on Saturday. RADOR

    [08] Civil Alliance asks for remaking voting of Romanian Parliament

    Civil Alliance is asking for a remake of the vote of the joint session of the Parliament of Romania as a result of which much increased salaries are given each MP. The reasons are that no MP allows that he or she would have said yes to a much increased salary whereas the results show a different situation while public money needs to be distributed in a correct manner, the same as it is the case of state companies.     Committee for European integration of the Romanian Parliament holds a meeting of the representatives of the state institutions for child protection on the theme INSTITUTIONAL REFORM AND THE PROTECTION OF CHILDREN NOW FACING DIFFICULTIES.
