[01] President Emil Constantinescu paid homage to the heroes that gave their life for the defense of Radio Romania in December 1989RADIO ROMANIA ACTUALITATI broadcast a programme last evening in which the President of Romania paid homage to the heroes that laid down their life in December 1989 for the defense of RADIO ROMANIA. The President said that the memorial which was unveiled in front of the Concert Hall of the Broadcasting Building of RADIO ROMANIA is a vivid memory of the sacrifice of the hero martyrs. RADOR[02] Statements to the media by Prime Minister Mugur IsarescuPrime Minister Mugur Isarescu said Thursday evening that his Cabinet will try to solve the most serious problems of the Romanian society. In a first session of the Cabinet that unfolded also yesterday the ministers approved five momoranda that open up the way for nonrefundable loans from the European Union worth 300 EURO. The Cabinet also passed measures regarding professional restructuring and retraining for the rail roads staff of this country. Two emergency ordinances sanction rectifying of the budget. PM Isarescu said that the draft of the state budget for the year 2000 will be ready by 20 January next. RADOR[03] King Mihai I, former sovereign of Romania, spends Christmas in the town of IasiThe King and the Queen are at Iasi on a three day informal visit for the winter holidays. Yesterday the royal couple visited SF. CONSTANTIN AND ELENA elderly home. Tonight Mihai and Anne attend the Christmas concert of MOLDOVA philarmonic orchestra. RADOR[04] Prime Minister of France Lionel Jospin sent a letter of congratulations to the new Prime Minister of RomaniaMr. Jospin underlines in his letter of congratulations the good relations between the two countries and the French - Romanian partnership. Prime Minister Isarescu receives all assurances from the French Premier that just as until now France continues intensive support of Romania in its European demarches all the more so as France will be in the chair of the European Union in the second semester of the year 2000. RADOR[05] Rating agencies give favorable answers to RomaniaIBCA Featch which is the European rating Agency confirmed grade B for the short term debt of our country and B minus for the long term debt, the first in hard currency and the second in national currency. RADIO FREE EUROPE specifies that the rating concerns the debts of the Romanian state and of the central banks of this country. The afore mentioned agency is of the opinion that Romania has overcome the crisis of the balance of payment.
