    The Macedonian Arts Council Second Annual Fundraising Luncheon is scheduled for May 7, 1995 starting at 1:30pm. The Luncheon will be held at the New York Plaza Hotel and about 100 guests are expected to attend, among them macedonian delegations from Ohio, Ilinois, Florida and California, Canada, Switzerland and Macedonia. From Macedonia, The President of Macedonian TV, Mr. Sasho Ordanovski and the Deputy General Manager of Macedonian Radio and Televison, Mr. Lazo Bunteski will attend. Also from Macedonia a delegation of business and professional people is expected, among them the major sponsor of this event, the Skopje-based Almaco Trading. This celebration of Macedonian cultural heritage is being honored by representatives of Irex In Washington, The Action Council for peace in the Balkans and The Council on Foreing Relations in New York. The representatives of the Office of Macedonia in Washington and several diplomats from the U.N. (so far four ambassadors) have confirmed their attendance as well as journalists from the National Geographic Society and CBS News in New York. The Key note speaker will be the Former CSEC Ambassador to Macedonia Mr. Robert Forwick. Additional speakers wil be annouced later this week.     Founded in 1992 The MacedonianArts Council Inc. is a New York-based, not-for-profit organization which dedicates itself to the promotion and affirmation of Macedonian cultural heritage in the United States. The Council's mainobjective istointroduce to the American public the rich cultural tradition, arts, language and literature of a small European people whose rich cultural threads have long been interwoven into the ethnic tapestry of the United States of America. The Council is managed by a Board of Directors comprised of prominent individuals, scholars and artists who are connected with certain aspects of Macedonian culture. The Executive Director handles the operation of the Council on a daily basis; the Boardof Directors meets once a year to adopt the yearly agenda. The Councilis ataxexemptentity and funds are secured solely through contributions and from revenues stemming from subscriptions to a newsletter published by the Council. The spirit of the Macedonian people can be best defined through thesimple idea of endurance. No matter the historical time or the conqueror, Macedonian cultural heritage has continued to grow and expand, thus enhancing the identity of the Macedonian people. It is that enduring cultural stamina that the Macedonia Arts Council will attempt to resonate on the American continent. The Council promotes Macedonian cultural heritage in several ways. It publishes a quarterly newsletter, Macedonia, Curiosum Mundi which reaches 1500 readers and in 1992 it was the editor of a booklet entitled Macedonia Through The Ages which was distributed worldwide. In 1994 it produced a fundraising event at The Plaza Hotel in New York featuring a half hour cultural program. The Council has sponsored several arts exhibits among which the Macedonian Textile Show at the Toronto Museum of Textile. It has contributed support to the publication of several essays and articles concerning Macedonian culture and history and is hassupported and planned two solo concert events at the Carnegie Recital Hall for musicians of Macedonian origin. The Macedonian Arts Council's agenda for 1996 focuses on two projects, a live concert in New York scheduled for 1996 and a photographic exhibit entitled Faces, also in1996, which will present Macedonian to audiences on three continents, Australia, North America and Europe.-
