  • [01] KARADZIC DISMISSED KASAGIC

Banja Luka, May 15,1996 (Press TWRA)

Radovan Karadjic , the leader of Serbian clique on Pale, announced the dismissal of Rajko Kasagic from the position of Prime Minister of Republic Srpska. In the press release, reported by Reuters, Karadjic as President of Republic Srpska stated that Kasagic's contacts with the representatives of the international community and especially with the High representative of PIC Carl Bildt, threat the key interests and security of Republic Srpska.

Before he announced the decision on dismissal of Kasagic,Karadjic announced as a probable his candidacy on the September elections this year, rejecting the international demands that he, Mladic and other individuals, accused by ICTY for war crimes, be exempt from the election process. Italian newspaper "Repubblica" announced that Karadjic's influence increased, and that he freely cruses through his para-state, in a big and easily noticeable car and IFOR shows no intention to stop and arrest him. The increase of Serbian terrorist leaders' popularity among the Serbs in B-H is interpreted as the western forces hesitation (including the US Admiral Leighton Smith) to arrest him, and with the efficient apparatus of repression which Karadjic and Mladic established, using it first for extinction of non-Serbs, and now for the control over Serbs, but also the widely spread racism and chauvinism among the Serbs in B-H. Ed Vulliamy, British journalist who was among the first foreigners who entered the death camp Omarska, witnessed that Serbian population on that territory when he went there recently again, claimed there was never no detention camps.
