BOSNEWS digest 436 -- 18/10/95Bosnia-Herzegovina News DirectoryFrom: Dzevat Omeragic <dzevat@ee.mcgill.ca>MLADIC ASKS FOR NEGOTIATIONS ROAD FOR GORAZDE STILL NOT ESTABLISHED WAR CRIMINALS WILL NOT BE PART OF NEGOTIATIONS MLADIC ASKS FOR NEGOTIATIONS Sarajevo, October 17,1995 (Press TWRA) - At the B-H Army Headquarters' press conference spokesman Ferid Buljubasic said that the battles in the most parts of B-H will gradually stop, but Serbs will continue to attack the Western B-H territory and Bosanska krajina. "Serbian losses in the Western Bosnia have been great blow to their self proclaimed state so its is only realistic to expect that Karadjic's forces will try to regain control, at least, over part of the lost territory", said Buljubasic, adding that the next Serbian target could be Sanski Most, recently liberated parts of Manjaca and Bocac, where the power plant, which supplies Banja Luka with electricity, is located. "At present, the B-H Army 5th Corps' units are 2O km from Prijedor, and Croatian forces about 3O km from Banja Luka", emphasized Buljubasic. Buljubasic also said that Serbian commander Gen. Mladic in the last few days constantly asks for the meeting with the B-H Army and HVO Commanders Gen. Delic and Gen Blaskic. "We are not ready for such talks because Gen. Delic never did and probably never will meet with the war criminal Mladic. Serbs for the first time insist on the negotiations because they have very bad positions on the battlefield, that is why they try to keep the proposal for the territorial division of the country in the 51:49% proportion", stressed Buljubasic. (end) S.K. ROAD FOR GORAZDE STILL NOT ESTABLISHED Sarajevo, Octobre 17,1995 (Press TWRA) - The UNPROFOR spokesman Chris Vernon said that UNPROFOR is satisfied with cease fire in B-H. Out of 1OOO km, (the length of battlefield), the 8O% is completely calm, and on the 2O% the fighting continue, mainly on the territory of Western Bosnia. Vernon stressed that Serbs still do not allow the access to Gorazde. They still control the important check point, on the way to Gorazde, near Ustipraca.=20 Banja Luka - On the so called "republic srpska" "parliament" session held in Banja Luka Serbian Gen. Milovanovic said that "republic srpska" has to be defended on three positions: in Western Bosnia (Banja Luka), Posavina's corridor and Trnovo, from where is possible to control the road which connects Sarajevo and Gorazde. "The loss of any of these three points is equal to the loss of state", said Milovanovic. (end) S.K. WAR CRIMINALS WILL NOT BE PART OF NEGOTIATIONS Storrs, Octobre 17,1995 (Press TWRA) - At the opening of the Library in Storrs, Connecticut which is named after Thomas Dodd, the counselor of Nurnberg Tribunal, US President Clinton said: "Nurnberg represented the first important step. It clearly condemned the crimes. Raised the human rights on the higher level. (...) The successful trial for the war crimes on the territory of former Yugoslavia and Rwanda can send a clear signal to those who under the veil of war commit terrible crimes, that they can not avoid the consequences of such acts. (...) The 43 indictments raised so far on the territory of former Yugoslavia can not be part of negotiations. Those accused for war crimes, genocide and crimes against humanity will be brought to justice". |
