  • [01] "East" finances projects to rehabilitate power system in Korce

    KORCE, Sept 19 (ATA)-By B. Fejzullai, Two projects for the rehabilitation of energy system in the district of Korce have been financed by humanitarian mission "EAST".

    Gaqo Blushi, director of the energy affiliation for this region said on Sunday that this mission provided $20 000 for the project to rehabilitate the hydro-power station of Gjanc, which was completed several days ago.

    The hydro-power station of Gjanc, 3 000 kilowatt/hour serves as a condenser to normalise tension in the region's system and is supplying with electricity 14 villages of the surrounding area, Blushi said.

    The second project, for which the "EAST" humanitarian mission will help normalise the supply of Korce with electricity. Blushi said that the works to implement the project will start within September and take 30 days.

    The representative of "EAST", Fred Yallop, says that the British and Danish governments, donors of this mission, have also decided to finance several projects for the improvement of Korce district infrastructure. /lh/lm/

    [02] New physiotherapy centre opened in Gostime of Elbasan

    ELBASAN, Sept 19 (ATA)-By M. Lulja, A new health centre of physiotherapy has begun functioning in Gostime village, 25 km from Elbasan city of Elbasan city, sources from the district health department report.

    The centre has been set up in the framework of the PHARE programme, with 320 million lire provided by the EU.

    This centre enables the treatment and rehabilitation of the patients suffering from mental, orthopedic and rheumatic diseases, the representative of EU, Erik Oto, said.

    Two Italian specialist doctors, who are running this centre, will also train 10 Albanian doctors. Five of them will serve in the physiotherapy centre in Gostime, while the others in the centre set up in Lezhe.

    Meanwhile, this centre has began cooperation with the "God loves Albania" foundation to enable the equipment of invalids with wheel-chairs. /lh/lm/

    [04] Jackson- Çeku meeting postponed

    PRISHTINE, Sept 19, (ATA) - The meeting of the generals Jackson and Çeku, scheduled to be held on Sunday, as well as the declarations' signing ceremony for the concluding of the demilitarization and the beginning of the process for KLA transformation are postponed, sources from Prishtine, close to KFOR, told ATA.

    Official notices will be made public in the afternoon, perhaps over a press conference. /led/so/

    [05] Albania takes part in EC Parliamentary Assembly session

    TIRANE, Sept 19 (ATA) - The permanent delegation of the Albaian Parliament, headed by the deputy chairman Namik Dokle, participates in the Fall session proceedings of the European Council, scheduled to begin in Strasbourg, on Monday, Assembly's spokesman reported to ATA.

    The relations "Southeastern Europe and Kosovo" as well as "The reconstruction and economic restoration of Southeastern Europe after the crisis in Kosovo" are the topics to be discussed in the Commission of Political Affairs of the Assembly.

    The Parliament Speaker, Skender Gjinushi, will also participate in this session. He will be received separately by the President of the Parliamentary Assembly, Lord Rusell Jonston, General Secretary Walter Schwimmer and other personalities. /led/so/

    SKRAPAR, Sept 19 (ATA)- By E.Nepravishta, The Albanian Premier and the General Secretary of the Socialist Party (SP), Pandeli Majko, was invited in the Conference of the SP for Skrapar section on Sunday.

    Majko is accompanied by the district deputy, Deputy Premier Ilir Meta and the SP organization Secretary, Ndre Legisi.
