  • [01] Kakavija customs house collects 30 million leks in two days

KAKAVIJE, March 9 (ATA) - By H. Çani: Customs house of Kakavija collected some 30 million leks from customs clearance within the last two days.

Tight security in national roads particularly in Kakavija-Gjirokaster and Tepelene-Ballsh road segments are factors, which have conditioned an influx of traders in the Kakavija border crossing, police officials said to ATA on Tuesday.

They added that the installment of a weighing-machine two months ago had also affected the increase of revenues.

A group of experts of the Ministry of Public Order, which stayed there for four days in order to reinforce police border measures in registration procedures for citizens passing through the border crossing, left the place on Monday.

Over 300-400 people a day pass through the border crossing to Greece while in holidays this figure reaches over one thousand people a day. /dast/ak/

[10] LDK urges speed-up procedures for NATO troops in Kosova

PRISHTINE, March 10 (ATA) - Presidency of the Democratic League of Kosova (LDK) urged the international factor on Tuesday to speed up procedures for the deployment of NATO troops stressing that "only the deployment of NATO forces can protect the Albanian population from Serb attacks," an LDK communique published on Tuesday in Prishtina and obtained by the Center for Information in Kosova said.

Analysing the political situation in Kosova and especially the recent events in Tuesday meeting in Prishtina, the LDK said that Serbia was exploiting the time in the run-up to the next phase of peace talks on March 15 to undertake military and police operations against the Albanian civil population all over Kosova.

Attacks of Serb forces against the villages of Vushtri, Podujeve, Prizren, Suhareke, Hani i Elezit, Kaçanik, Mitrovice aimed at forcing Albanians to abandon their houses and flee Kosova, the LDK communique said.

The communique mentioned emptied villages of Hani i Elezit where part of inhabitants lived in the open while many others were settled in Macedonia and doubted "whether this is the start of a 'passage' via the so- called 'Glogorov's corridor'". /dast/ak/
