    SARANDE, March 29 (ATA)-By Sh. Hajno, The General Consul of the Greek Consulate in Gjirokaster, Constandino Caqiusis, in Sarande on Friday evaluated the close historical Greek-Albanian relations, which date back to the Greek revolution for independence in 1821 and later, to the struggles for freedom against common invaders.

    Caquisis is invited by the Albania-Greece friendship association "Melina Merkuri" for Sarande to an activity organised by the latter in commemoration of the 177th anniversary of the independence of Greece and seventh anniversary of the creation of the association.

    Caqiusis evaluated the contribution and assistance of Greece, as a European Union (EU) member to the other countries of the region, especially to neighbouring Albania.

    Attending the activity, besides the members of the association, was the chairman of the Council of Sarande district, Thima Papagjika. /s.s/mima/lm/

    [02] Greek Parliamentary delegation arrives in Tirana

    TIRANE, March 28 (ATA)-A delegation of the Greek parliament's Foreign Relations Commission arrived in Albania on Sunday afternoon for a several- day visit.

    The Greek parliamentary delegation is headed by the former Greek Foreign Minister, Carolos Papoulias, who has visited Albania several times over the last years.

    In Albania the delegation will hold talks with the parliamentary Foreign Commission and the Parliament's speaker Skender Gjinushi.

    It will hold separate meetings with President of the Republic Rexhep Meidani, Prime Minister Fatos Nano, Ministers Milo, Ceka and Brokaj and the chairman of the Democratic party, Sali Berisha.

    The meetings will focus on the bilateral relations and the situation in Kosova.

    At the end of the meetings and talks on Tuesday, at 10.00, the Greek parliamentary delegation will hold a news conference at Rogner Hotel.

    At Rinas airport the delegation was received by the deputy chairman of the Albanian Parliament's Foreign Commission, Ilir Meta, and other members of the commission. /s.s/das/lm/
