[01] ZANI, HEAD OF GANG IN VLORE, DETAINEDVLORE, SEPT 28 (ATA) - By H Koci: Myrteza Caushi, known as Zani, the head of gang who operated in the district of Vlore, was detained late on Saturday by local police forces, sources from the Police Directorate in Vlore report.The same sources also report that some 14 other persons, members of the armed group which operated for several months in the district of Vlore, have been also detained. The action of local police of Vlore has been prepared carefully since three days. Police officers, under the direction of the head of this directorate, Gjon Abazi, for three consecutive days had put under strict observation the "aole" neighbourhood and the residence of Zani. Zani was detained in vicinity of his residence and police sources reported that no resistance with fire weapons occurred. It is expected that for security reasons, Zani and many other persons detained by police, be sent to Tirana. Zani has been the head of one of the gangs in the district of Vlore which has operated in this town after the turmoil in March of this year. After the arrival of special forces of the Interior Ministry by the beginning of August, Zani disappeared. The versions of his lurking-places, among which the most believable one, was his escape towards the Italian coasts by a motorboat. Other sources had reported that he was in the zone of Himara. His detention last night proved the statement of special forces that Zani had not left Albania. /kei/mt/k [02] NUMBER OF DEPOSITORS IN BANKS RAISEDBERAT, SEPT 28 (ATA) - By I Manka: The deposits in the branch of savings' bank in the district of Berat during the last eight months has been increased by 60 per cent compared to the same period last year, sources from this bank report."The lodging of money in Bank is considered the most profitable one for all those who cannot invest their money at present," stresses Foti Kallfa, specialist in the branch of Savings' Bank n Berat. Although the interest rates of deposits for three months have been lowered from 37 to 35 per cent since several days, the flux of depositing has increased. The reduction of interest rates by 2 per cent, says Kallfa, shows that the bank has become 2 per cent stronger. "Even if the interest rates in Bank will continue to lower, I will deposit my money here. A group of girls was deported in Albania because of exercising prostitution, but none of them accepted this in the border point of Durres.
