  • [01] ALBANIAN PREMIER FINO MEETS WITH GREEK DELEGATION

TIRANE, MARCH 31 (ATA) - By Agim Baci: Albanian Premier Bashkim Fino today in the evening met with the interministerial delegation of the Greek Government led by the Secretary General of the Greek Foreign Ministry, Alexander Filon.

"I think that your visit will give a further impetus to the relations of the two states and will precede my visit to Athens on Wednesday," said at the beginning of the meeting Mr Fino.

Mr Filon considered as very important the visit of Albanian Prime Minister to Athens on April 2. "Your visit to Greece will be an important station of the relations between our two countries," said Filon.

He stressed that there are many common points between Greece and Albania. "The Greek Government and people have a special concern in the developments in Albania. It is rare that two countries have so many points in common," said Filon.

Then the meeting continued without reporters. xh

[02] MEETING BETWEEN ALBANIAN PREMIER AND GREEK DELEGATION OF FOREIGN MINISTRY

TIRANE, MARCH 31 (ATA) - Today in the evening, Albanian Premier Bashkim Fino received the delegation of the Greek Foreign Ministry, headed by the Secretary General of this ministry, Alexander Filon.

During the meeting, which was held in a warm atmosphere and mutual understanding, they discussed the Albanian-Greek relations and their further promotion, also taking into consideration the present situation in Albania. The two sides stressed the ancient friendship which links the two neighbouring countries, the present relations without any problems and their possible further development.

Albanian Premier Bashkim Fino expressed his thanks for the Greek readiness to assist Albania. During the meeting Mr Fino appreciated the support of the United States of America and of the European Union as a guarantee to the realisation of the objectives of the National Reconciliation Government to restore order, to stabilize the local government and economy and to carry the country to fresh elections without problems and in social peace.

Mr Filon, who was also accompanied by the Greek Ambassador in Tirane and senior experts, reiterated his country's commitment to help the Fino Government. He stressed that the mission of the delegation he was leading was precisely to know the present needs of Albania and to adopt real measures to help the Albanian people. He insisted in the fact that the Greek Government considered this assistance not simply as a state act, but also as a commitment for the friendly, neighbouring Albanian people who are in difficulty.

The Greek delegation arrived in Tirana today and is having a number of meetings with senior officials in ministries and various sectors of the state administration of Albania. xh
