"This alliance emerges today as an historical need, as an aspiration of the Albanian people to group the nationalist forces in order to prevent the restoration of communism in Albania and as a powerful opposition to DP, " says the joint declaration.

It expressed the concern for the fact that the constitution is not being prepared and for a referendum to be held on the form of regime in Albania.

It also stresses that the two parties keep their identity and the decisions of this league's branches should be taken in line with the political stance of the Central Leading Council. They will cooperate with every political force which accepts the program of this league.

"The LMP and the BKP continue to be loyal to the Right Wing league. We are preoccupied that democracy reach a pyramid, whereas with the socialists we would cooperate only if they apologize this people for the crimes committed in the past 50 years by the Party of Labour because so far we consider them as followers of this party," said the LMP chairman Durollari. ake/kei/xh/k

[02] REMAINS OF FATHER GJERGJ FISHTA REBURIED

In his speech Father Daniel Gjencaj, representative of the ministers in exile, said that "some 30 years ago the remains of Father Gjergj Fishta, this great poet of the nation, were eliminated by the communist dictatorship. It was precisely the time when the churches and mosques were destroyed. Shkodra today is paying homage to him in this mass. The communists thought they did away with his remains and work but they were wrong. The Shkodra of culture preserved them with a great fanaticism."

Later his remains were placed at the Franciscan church of the city.

A greeting of Pope John Paul II, sent on this occasion, was read afterwards. He values the figure of the Albanian national poet Gjergj Fishta, for his great contribution to literature and Albanian language.

Attending these activities were Speaker of President Pjeter Arbnori, the Minister of Culture and Sports, Teodor Laco, the Secretary of State on Women, Roza Pati, the chairman of the Albanian Moslem Community, Sabri Koci, the head of the World Fraternity of Bektashi, father Reshat Bardhi, the chairman of the Academy of Sciences, Shaban Demiraj, and others.

The remains of Fishta have been found several months ago during the world for the reconstruction of the Franciscan church in this city, which was destroyed by the communist regime in 1967. On this occasion the remains of Father Gjergj Fishta were lost as well.

Father Gjergj Fishta (1871-1940), the main representative of the clerical-catholic literature was severely persecuted by the communist regime. After his death, his body was eliminated by the communists./a.ke/kei/lm/sh/

[03] MUNICIPALITY PROVIDES $40 000 AND TRADERS $7 000 TO BEAUTIFY TIRANA

The expenditure to beautify the capital for the New Year have totalled 40 000 dollars, the deputy Mayor of Tirana, Buron Kaceli, has told ATA.

In addition, 7 000 dollars have been donated by various traders from Tirana.

Kaceli is at the same time the chief of the working group set up for this purpose in the Municipality since the beginning of December so as to make everything ready beginning with Christmas.

The programme of the working group also includes the replacement of the existing advertisements by those with greetings in Albanian and English language, according to the specialist of the Department of Culture in the municipality, Valter Gjoni. kled/lm/k
