    TIRANA, OCT 6 (ATA)- By M.Spahivogli, The Traders' Association of chemical fertilizers and other agricultural inputs, AFADA, held a news conference on Saturday in the context of the "Agr.food Fair '96", which opened in Tirana recently.

    "United we win", is the moto of AFADA.

    "The success of the association members in agr.-business is a real guarantee for the future, Beqir Lila, AFADA's current president said at the conference. Its objective is to develop business based on the cooperation of contestants".

    Created in April 1993, initiated and financed by the U.S. Agency IFDC, in the framework of USAID, AFADA is not only the first association created by farmers but also the most powerful one in agr.-business. Today it is recognised by many international business associations and organisations.

    The International Finance Corporation, in a report evaluating the progress of the Albanian economy, considers AFADA the most active and effective trade association in Albania.

    AFADA is included in the world map of business associations of chemical fertilizers and agro-inputs.a.ke/lm/k

    [02] ALBANIAN PRESIDENT MEETS INHABITANTS OF VORA AND KAMZA

    TIRANA, OCT 5 (ATA)-By M.Allushi,

    The President of the Republic, Sali Berisha, met Saturday afternoon with inhabitants of Vora and Kamza towns, Tirana district, in the context of the October 20 local elections.

    "Your trust is the greatest guarantee for the Democratic Party, our best future," said Berisha in the rally held in Vora.

    Introducing the DP candidate for mayor in this town, Fadil Kepi, he described him as "one of the most distinguished deputies, one of the most active DP organisers" and called on the Vora citizens to vote for the DP candidate.

    "I call on those who on May 24 voted for the opposition to join us. We are the democracy, love democracy and hate boycott. It is a great offence for them, for us and the whole Albania".

    "We keep to our words, to our promises, we defend the electors, we pay homage to democracy and all those who vote for their prosperity, the country welfare."

    Later Berisha went to the Kamza town and in the rally on the occasion repeated the advantages of the DP alternative for the further development of the country.

    He introduced the candidate for mayor, Ruzhdi Keci, expressing the belief that this town, with the election of this candidate, will be one of the most developed municipalities of Tirana. a.ke/kei/lm/k

    [03] CANDIDATES TO LOCAL GOVERNMENT INTRODUCED

    TIRANA, OCT 5 (ATA)- My I.Manka, A.Frasheri, Sh.Hajno, H.Koci,

    The chairman of the Democratic Party, Tritan Shehu, introduced on Friday in Berat the candidate for the city mayor, Milika Jaho.

    After the opening address by the DP chairwoman for Berat, deputy Kozeta Menkulasi, the participants were greeted by Shehu. He highlighted the achievements scored in the country in politics, economy and the social- economic emancipation of the people.

    He also stressed that "the DP admits the errors and shortcomings of this period which in relation to the achievements makes it and the electorate supporting it, as well as the whole Albanian people confident of the country's further progress.

    Jaho promised work and devotion, passion in solving her co-citizens' problems.

    In Ura Vajgurore, which became municipality in May this year, Shehu introduced the candidate for mayor, deputy Mirko Haxhistasa.

    On Friday the candidate for Tirana's mayor put up by the Republican Party, Neritan Alibali, declared his candidature and the beginning of the campaign with e press conference and later with a cocktail in which he also invited his rivals in these elections.

    After presenting his alternatives for the solution of the most urgent problems, Alibali, responded to reporters' questions that:"his platform was built on the RP programme, but if he won, he would work for a civil co- governing, as any citizen of Tirana has the right to take part in the his city's governing".

    On Friday afternoon the chairman of the Human Right Union Party, Vsil Melo, introduced at a meeting with inhabitants of Saranda, southern Albania, the candidate for mayor of this district, Dhimiter Xhaferi.

    Melo dwelt on the HRUP programme and the priorities of this programme, which according to him are the development of agriculture, food industry, tourism, exploitation of underground assets and organised emigration.

    At the presence of leaders Neritan Ceka and Skender Gjinushi, the Centre Pole introduced Friday afternoon the candidate for the Vlora city mayor, Paskal Milo, deputy chairman of the Social-Democratic Party.

    The leaders of the Centre Pole unfolded their electoral alternative, which they considered the best at local level. a.ke/kei/lm/k

    [04] ALBANIAN PRESIDENT MEETS BRITISH DIPLOMAT PARRY

    TIRANA, OCT 5 9ATA)- President of the Republic of Albania Sali Berisha met Friday in Tirana with the Foreign Office Political Director, Emer Parry, according to the Press and Information office close to the President of the Republic.

    They discussed the development of the reform in Albania which was considered among the most successful ones, as well as the possibilities of intensifying cooperation between the two countries.

    Parry higly appreciated the changes carried out in such a short time and said that Albania should return to the European family, to which it belongs from its origin and tradition. On this path, he said, it is supported not only by Britain but also by other countries of the European Union.

    Berisha evaluated the support by Britain and other EU members in Albania's efforts to integrate into the European and Euro-Atlantic structures.

    Regarding Albania's association agreement with the EU, Berisha said:"For this agreement there is no political hindrance, but only some technical problems which are under discussion".

    Parry expressed Britain's commitment to provide Albania with the British successful experience in the privatisation of the banking system, water privatisation and the creation of industrial zones and parks in the undeveloped areas. a.ke/lm/k

    [05] ALBANIAN PRESIDENT MEETS DIRECTOR OF CE EUR.-IMAGE

    TIRANA, OCT 5 (ATA)- The President of the Republic of Albania, Sali Berisha, met on Friday evening with the director of the Council of Europe's Eur.- image, Gaetano Adinolfi, according to the Albanian President's Press and Information Office.

    Berisha considered Adinolfi's visit a very significant event for the Albanian culture and cinematography.

    "The Albanian cinematography does not lack tradition, which for our country starts with its European beginnings. Albania's membership to the Eur.-Image would be very important for our culture, because it not only intensifies cooperation but also shows the talent of the Albanian screen- writers" Adinolfi congratulated Berisha for the extraordinary changes of Albania in all fields.

    "One is impressed by the energy and desire of the Albanians to change their life", he said.

    Adinolfi assured Berisha of the increasing cooperation between the Eur.- image and the Albanian screen-writers, and especially of technical support in this field. a.ke/kei/lm/k
