[01] WORKSHOP XVIII ON ALBANIAN LANGUAGE, LITERATURE AND CULTURE ENDSTIRANA, SEP 1 /ATA/ by S.Sharrexhi The workshop XVIII on Albanian Language, Literature and Culture staged at Palace of Congresses in Tirana ended up with the session on Gjergj Fishta literary work.Gjergj Fishta's literary work, Albanian world and the linguistic values of this work were on the focus of Saturday's session. Prof.Dr. Kolec Topalli in relation to this told ATA "No doubt Fishta has been one of the greatest assets of Albanian literature and will remain so. Fishta's knowledge on Albanian language was that of a scientist, he was the chairman of the commission for the establishment of the alphabet rendering a valuable contribution. From this point of view Fishta remains a scientist and linguist, but above all, one of the greatest national poets, one of the most distinguished figures of our culture, which unfortunately for 50 years in succession the communist regime attempted to denigrate, but did not succeed. Because 50 years are a short period for a writer with such potentials." According to another analyst the workshop marked a new stage on the study of Fishta's work. kled/gen/sh/ Albanian Telegraphic Agency[02] THE YOUNGEST PEACE CORPS VOLUNTEERS SWEAR INTIRANA, AUG 1 /ATA/ - by S.Sharrexhi This is the fifth swear in ceremony of Peace Corps volunteers, the youngest group in Albania, which brings together Albanians and Americans in development of the country, said Peter Burke, director of volunteers training centre.Peace Corps director in Albania, Ken Ayers said that corner stone of Peace Corps volunteers success are Albanians, who assisted them during their 11 weeks training program and also the staff, who trained them.
