[01] CYCLE OF SEMINARS ON MARKETING AND MANAGEMENTTIRANA, JUNE 20 (ATA) By Flora Nikolla - The Society "On benefit of Albanian women" is organising a cycle of seminars, in Tirana, entitled "Marketing and Management."This society is financially backed by the U.N. Development Project and organises qualifying and training sessions for Albanian women of all districts. They are held in collaboration with lecturers of "Tirana International Group", "Management Institute" and teachers and specialists in the field of business. Some of the themes treated during these days were "General marketing strategy in field of handicraft", "Marketing and communication with the customer", "The importance of goods' quality" and others. The idea of this cycle of seminars was organised to support the project "The golden hand shop" which will help Albanian women's employment and ensure a continuity of handicraft tradition. jz/fh/Z/ Albanian Telegraphic Agency[02] ALBANIA/ITALY:ITALY TO MAINTAIN FRIENDLY RELATIONS(ANSA) - Rome, June 20 - Italy intends to maintain friendly relations with Albania despite international criticism of the conduct of the recent elections.Foreign Affairs Undersecretary Rino Serri told the Chamber of Deputies (lower house) today that the government agreed that the election resulted in ''only a partial political representation of the country, since some political components withdrew from them.'' However Italy did not back calls for a re-run of the election in view of ''the extreme delicacy of the balances in the Balkan area and the need to avoid even the smallest cause of instability.'' Serri went on: ''The first requirement is to work in Albania for the resumption as soon as possible of dialogue between all the parties without prejudice. ''The administrative elections due next year will make it possible to verify whether all the democratic guarantees have been restores.'' The minister said he considered much of the criticism of the elections of May 26 and June 2 unfounded, and blamed it on exaggerated and erroneous journalism. The Organisation for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE) said in its report on the elections that their conduct had breached both Albania electoral law and international standards. Opposition parties including the Socialists, the main opposition, boycotted the election complaining of misconduct by President Sali Berisha's ruling Democratic party. Calls for a re-run have been supported by the European parliament. Albanian Telegraphic Agency[03] NEW ELECTIONS UNACCEPTABLE FOR US - GodoTIRANA, JUNE 21 (ATA) - The Republican Party leader, Sabri Godo, said to the daily "Rilindja Demokratike" that "For us it is unacceptable to rerun new elections."He declared this before leaving for Strasbourg with other opposition representatives to discuss about May 26 elections in Albania. Despite of the RP presidency declaration two days after May 26 elections (where foreign observers outlined irregularities in the conduct of the poll) the RP does not agree with a rerun of elections. "Everything we will discuss will serve to avoid a cold current emerging lately in the Albanian-European relations" Godo said. jz/fh/Z/ Albanian Telegraphic Agency[04] A ROAD IN TRIESTE TO BE NAMED AFTER ALEKSANDER MOISIUTIRANA, JUNE 21 (ATA) By S Gjordeni - A working team of the Durresi municipality paid a visit to Trieste upon the invitation of its local authorities.After talks with art and culture personalities of this town they decided to name a road of Trieste after the world wide well known actor of Albanian origin Aleksander Moisiu. Trieste has also named one of its roads after the name of famous Albanian architect Karl Gega. They also agreed to open soon in Durresi a photographic exhibition on Moisiu's life which is found in Trieste. am/jz/fh/Z/ Albanian Telegraphic Agency[05] UNDERSECRETARY SERRI ON ITALIAN-ALBANIAN RELATIONSROME, JUNE 20 (ATA)-The Italian government considers that the latest elections in Albania resulted in only a partial representation of the country, since some political forces withdrew from the electoral race, the news agency ANSA cites Foreign Affairs undersecretary Rino Serri as saying to the Chamber of Deputies on Thursday.Responding to questions by deputies Nicandro Marinacci and Rocco Buttiglione, Serri said that in view of "the extreme delicacy of the balances in the Balkan area and the need to avoid even the smallest cause of instability", the Italian government has not responded to calls for a re- run of the election and intends to maintain friendly relations and cooperation with Albania. "The first requirement is to work in Albania for the resumption as soon as possible of political dialogue between all the parties without prejudice". "The local government elections due this year might serve to verify whether democratic guarantees have been restored". Marinacci has expressed his dissatisfaction and considered much of the criticism of the elections of May 26 and June 2 unfounded, blaming it on exaggerated and erroneous coverage by the Media of the Albanian political developments, because only the Socialist Party boycotted the elections without denouncing the election contravention. lm/Z/ Albanian Telegraphic Agency[06] OLD PASSPORTS TO EXPIRE AUGUST 31TIRANA, JUNE 20 9ATA)- By A.Sakja, The Interior Ministry has announced recently through the press that August 31, 1996 is the expiry date for the old model passport (the red one).Following this deadline, only the new type of passport will serve as a document of identification and a means of traveling abroad. The Interior Ministry explains to all citizens, who have various visas for abroad in their old passports, that they can use these visas until the end of 1996, or before this deadline if the visas expire earlier. The news passport includes high level security elements and a better appearance. Until the year 1990, under the Albanian monist state self-isolation, the number of passports for abroad was very restricted, while from 1991 and on it reaches hundreds of thousands.jz/lm/Z/ Albanian Telegraphic Agency[07] PRESS REVIEWTIRANA, JUNE 21 (ATA)-Today's Rilindja Demokratike carries the interview of the DP chairman, Tritan Shehu, entitled :"The European right supports the Democratic Party" and the editorial:"Anti-Albanian alliances" accusing the Albanian red front of alliance with the Greek ultra-nationalist circles in the U.S. The paper carries a draft-resolution presented by the group of the European people's parties about the electoral process in Albania entitled:"Cooperation in the interest of further democratic processes".The paper also carries the article: "The former communists to meet with failure also in Strasbourg" about a pronouncement of the Republican chairman, Godo, invited at the meeting of several Albanian parties in Strasbourg on Monday. The newspaper also carries the interview of the DP organisational secretary, Ylli Vejsiu, entitled :"The DP victory, a blessing for the Albanian democracy". Zeri i Popullit carries the editorial:"The European parliament calls for fresh elections in Albania". The paper carries a statement of the SP presidency entitled :"The SP does not recognise an illegitimate Parliament, raised on the people's vote theft". The paper also carries the article: "The problems regarding elections in Albania are very serious". Republika carries today the editorial:"Strasbourg asks solution" and the ANSA agency reports that the Italian government does not favour the vote re-holding and that it will continue its friendly relations with Albania, despite international criticism on the latest development of elections". Poli i Qendres carries today the article :"The European Parliament: The elections to be re-held". The paper also carries the article :"The DP and Berisha, alone against the whole world". The paper also carries the article:"Unidentified people attack distinguished intellectuals". Rilindja carries today the meeting of President of the Republic of Kosova Rugova with the coordinator of the U.S. organisation "Mercy Corps International", Tery Heseluisin, entitled: "The Kosova people to be assisted in coping with the situation". The paper also reports that the European parliamentarians consider normal the Kosova's right to self- rule". Koha Jone carries the editorial "The European Parliament on Thursday decided: Fresh elections in Albania". The paper carries opinions of several left opposition leaders entitled: "The U.S. and Europe support the opposition and the Albanian democracy". Tribuna carries the article:"The European right supports the Democratic Party" and the article: "Communists want an isolated Albania". Gazeta Shqiptare also reports on last night's European parliamentarians' resolution in Strasbourg, entitled: "Europe: Elections be re-held". Under the headline :"The European parliament welcomes the Albanian new parliament", Albania carries the editorial:"The newly elected parliament of Albania should moderately use the power". The paper also runs the article: "The European parliament ignores the Albanian left opposition. Only 175 out of 624 deputies took part in the session". The paper also carries the article: "The parliament and government will be a testimony of Albanians' trust". Dita Informacion carries the article :"Europe attacks". Another article says that a bomb was planted at the Greek Consulate in Gjirokaster last Friday. Albanian Telegraphic Agency[08] SP DEPUTY CHAIRMAN MISINFORMS OF HIS PARTY ORIGINTIRANA, JUNE 21 (ATA)-Five years ago the Socialist Party was dissolved and reorganised, Servet Pellumbi, deputy chairman of the SP, told BBC on Friday.Asked whether the SP reformation would have been more credible and complete if its predecessor, the Party of Labour, had been dissolved and reorganised by finally eliminating the most nostalgic elements of the dictatorial past, Pellumbi said that "precisely a kind of dissolution and re-dissolution was carried out five years ago". Pellumbi says that on June 12, five years ago, the reforming wing (according to him) in the 10th congress of the party (he does not say which party) a group of intellectuals, who, he said, had been running the SP, "discharged the whole old nomenclature of the SP, managed to approve a programme in its social-democratic essence, and declared the creation of the SP under its today's name".
